How to Train your Dragon (July 11, 2025)

Well. I loved it, of course.

It did what it needed to do and it did it well! The visuals were fantastic, as expected. I was hoping for more shots that would look good for 3D, but I don’t think I saw many. But I’m fine with that. And I don’t know if there are 3D screenings of this.

The cast did a great job. Everyone portrayed their roles brilliantly. I loved that Gerard Butler returned for his role as Stoic.

This gave me all the emotions of the original. Now, there were some visuals, specifically the flying that looked smoother or better in the original movie, but that didn’t bother me too much.

If you enjoyed the original movie, you probably will enjoy this. They didn’t make similar mistakes that other live-action remakes have made in the past. It’s a fun watch!

Mid-credit scene: Nope, but there are nice visuals.

End-credit scene: Yes, but it’s not really much of anything. I’m not quite sure why they picked to add it. I would have tweaked it a little to make it at least narratively useful. But eh. So, basically, you don’t have to stay to watch it. That can be done when it’s on digital.

Anti-Venom and All-New Venom clash! Gwen seems to be in command of whatever is going on in her book. Thor is having a bad time. Laura Kinney got to her 75th-ever issue! Galactus and Ghost Rider got a on-shot! Miles takes a trip into the new Ultimate universe! We got a new run for Marvel Knights! We got a new event starting called Imperial! The next issue of the TMNT/Naruto crossover dropped. The final issue of Fear of the Jedi dropped! The end of the third publishing phase of the High Republic is next! Shaak Ti and Qui-Gon seemingly take on Jango in this issue of Jedi Knights! And we got this year’s DC Pride issue! Happy Pride, y’all!

The next post should be a movie post!

Okay. Gwen looks intense on that cover! That’s it. I liked the creativity of the Daredevil cover! The Ross cover looks amazing! And so does the Storm cover!

Galactus! That’s all.

I didn’t know this was a wraparound cover, it’s minimalist.

Such great covers! Momoko rocked this She-Hulk cover! And the other one is a connecting cover.

These are two variants for this crossover title. I really liked the previous issues variants and continue to enjoy these!

Artgerm did some Heat Seeker covers! There are a couple other variants of these that I need to find.

Love this Pride variant of Mother Koril from Acolyte! Hmm, I vaguely remember a cover of Mother Aniseya in the recent past too, I’ll have to look that up.

Love all these covers for Jedi Knights! The first, third and fourth are continuing the sets from all the issues, and the second one is another of the 10th Anniversary of The Force Awakens covers.

Love these Ivy variants! Tran Nguyen made a gorgeous cover! And then the second one is a connecting Pride cover with a Harley issue.

Love these covers! For the art but also, of course, for Dreamer.

I love that they made a magazine variant for this year’s DC Pride issue! But I certainly had hoped for a lot more variants that we got.

Posters!! It feels like it’s been months since I’ve gotten posters, probably because it has been. The Trinity one is nice. I’m glad there was a mini poster for that Pride cover! And I’m very happy to have these Nakayama covers as posters!

We got the next Disney crossover title, this one staring Daffy. Ultimate Spider-Man has been getting a lot of great press, so I feel like this issue seems great. Uncanny X-Men seems to have a lot going on. Cable is seeing double! Infinity Watch continues. Doom’s event rolls on (well into July too!)! Kamala is on a time-travel adventure through the X-Men’s history! I’m so happy to have her in a new bunch of comics. I still hope she gets a new long-term run again at some point. The Hush event continues. Hal Jordan perhaps shall be Spectre again? This issue of Harley seems to be exploring her mind, I can’t wait to get to that. While Hal deals with Spectre, Wally continues to deal with Eclipso. We are Yesterday continues! And we got a new Mr. Terrific run for this All-In era!

I will certainly make sure to look up the covers these pay homage to. Always fun to have these titles going on. I really like the second cover here, Mark Brooks did a great job!

MJ and Mystique are looking amazing in these variants! Ivan Talavera did a fantastic job with that MJ cover. And Fan Yang created such great art for Mystique.

I always enjoy design covers! And I love this Leirix cover because it looks so different from usual.

I got this main cover because I wanted to pair it with another cover from earlier this year, as a set. And I enjoy having the movie-based covers.

These are the next variants in the sets for this title. They will all look good together once the run ends.

I’m always excited when Kamala is back in a title! I do hope she gets a next long-term run again soon.

I gotta love that Kamala is part of this time-traveling event. That gives us a bunch of homage covers as the main covers. Plus the cover this is paying homage to always is a fun one to use. Storm looks amazing! And I love this homage cover with Kamala in the mysterious center of the cover. Though I thought it was a hidden space that would be filled in, but nope.

David Nakayama is had a good week! These are two very different toned covers! David replied to my comment on the image on his IG that he liked using darkness on the cover because that’s what Batman is always surrounded by.

So many great covers! I love seeing Spectre on covers! Mark Spears has been doing a great job on so many covers recently!! That last one is one of the Summer of Superman variant sets! I can’t wait to see them together!

Nakayama’s next cover is so fun! Guillem March made Harley look so good as a Super!

Both dynamic variants! Wally being Superman would be fun!

The moment I saw this cover, I knew I’d be getting it. The covers and shading and details are just so good!

I mainly get Leirix covers where the ladies are the subject, but Ollie looks great on this cover! And this is the next connecting variant in the AAPI set.

The use of shadow and color are well balanced.

Derrick Chew does a great job with the Super-family! Kara and Lois look fantastic! Look at all the Supers on this cover!!

Such great covers! Da Silva creating brilliance on that first cover!! Oh look, more Supers on the second! And I think this is the last of the connecting set.

The legacies look amazing!

Victor isn’t having a good time in Titans. Bruce and Diana continue with their mystery. Captain Hallow is on his way up in Nightwing. Superman got a new miniseries. The end of this phase of the High Republic era continues. Hulk and Doctor Strange got a one-shot team-up. Moon Knight got carved up. Hulk and Thor seemingly get a rematch in this 25th issue of this new run. Vision and Scarlet Witch got a new miniseries! And Doom’s event continues.

The next Catwoman covers by Cho and Rich and Lee respectively.

Otto Schmidt did a great job with this Titans cover!!

Love these covers! The first is of course the next Nakayama cover. And the second one is the second of a set that involves non-Superman characters in Superman attire. The other one is the Aquaman variant above.

Love this Haining cover of Absolute Flash. and I have this World’s Finest cover here because of Perpetua. And the New Gods one because of the Source Wall being in the background.

The main cover for this didn’t show up, so that’ll appear next time. I got the blank cover and the James Gunn and David Corenswet cover! I think it’s part of a set of real people being on covers, but not sure if it is a set. But I do know that there is a set of Gunn’s Superman across covers.

Got this variant for Rigel being one of the shrubs. The next one I got for the legacy of Hulk. And the last one is a great Lee variant!!

This wraparound cover is so great! The cartoon variant is fun paying homage the Hulk’s first issue. And this is the next Timeless cover.

Such a great use of wraparound and Hulk’s massive frame.

Love this Dauterman cover! And this is such a sweet window shades variant.

I didn’t expect to get this many variants for this issue, but they’re all great! Always happy to see more Galloway covers! Great Disney cover! Not sure if it’s specifically an homage cover or not. The next Timeless cover. And I suppose I wanted to get this Impossible Man cover because he influenced my mind, haha.

So many issues!

Clark is in trouble in Action Comics. Arthur is back from his adventures. We got a new run of Supergirl which I’m very excited about! a new title from Image started called Exquisite Corpses, basically an assassin tournament. The next Ultimate X-Men dropped. We glance back at a Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan adventue with Jedi Knights. A new arc starts in Phoenix. Matt has some vegetation trouble. Doom has to deal with Dormammu. And we got a new Gwenpool run finally!

Well that’s a scary Barends cover of Big Barda! I can’t actually remember if this Absolute Batman cover is part of a collection or not, but I like it either way, haha. I love this Jonboy cover of Star Sapphire!

The beginning of all the Supergirl covers to come!

I’ve decided to get all the covers for this title, I’m pretty sure. Mainly, because one of my first favorite comic book cover artists that I started collecting designed the new costume! Thank you and congratulations to Artgerm!

I got these because of the covers at first. And I do love the covers, but I decided to also give the comic a chance too.

The main cover is so great! The variant of the main cover came with a trading card! One of the assassins. And I Love the Frison variant!! There are a couple variants of this cover, but I think they’re incentive covers.

I got these just for the covers. The Battle Beast one because I liked seeing the main Invincible characters on the cover. And I forgot that Nakayama’s covers for Transformers were part of a connecting cover set. So I decided to get them.

The next bunch of Ultimate X-Men covers!

The next set of Jedi Knights covers!

Aaaaand the next set of Phoenix covers! I really love the main cover! And the next one is by Joe Quesada! I always like seeing covers by him. Of course that Momoko cover is great! I got that last one because of the legacy of it, Phil Noto did a great job with it!

Happy for the X-Men 97 cover! And this Meghan Hetrick variant is so gorgeous!

The next Ross cover and the next Marvel Studios cover, which is a wraparound. So, that’ll be in the complete collection for those covers.

Double Ross covers!

Happy for a Dormammu cover! And another Ross Timeless cover.

I love this Jonboy cover with Thaddeus smashing through the cover! And I love this Clarke cover with Godzilla and the team.

Gwenpool returns! So many covers!

Mainly for this new Gwenpool character design, but also for our Gwen. The pink Lee cover is my favorite of the batch.

Lilo and Stitch (May 22,2025)

(This is my 100th movie review/reaction post!!)

First off, I enjoyed the movie! It was certainly a fun heartfelt movie.

I liked the acting from everyone. Maia Kealoha as Lilo was amazing. She was just a perfect little girl acting like a kid would with all the crazy situations happening. I also was very happy that Chris Sanders returned to voice Stitch. He was the creator of the original movie. He wrote and directed the original movie while also being Stitch. I will say that I would have liked for him to have directed this movie too.

The supporting cast was also enjoyable to watch. A couple recognizable faces which I liked seeing. I know that the character David (Nani’s boyfriend) didn’t have a lot to do in the original movie, but he still felt important. In this movie, I feel like he did the same things he did in the original, but something felt left-out. There is part of one line of dialogue that he makes that had something cut out of it and that stood out to me. Though that’s a writing issue.

I enjoyed Billy Magnussen as Pleakley a lot. He seemed very much like the original version of the character.

I was excited for Zach Galifianakis to play Jumba, and still think he did a good job acting, but they made a couple changes to his character and voice that stood out a lot. And I think those were writing and directing problems.

For Nani, I think Sydney Elizabeth Agudong did a good job. But I think there was something missing in the directing that didn’t let her shine more. The characterization felt a little off, but I can’t place why. But in her big moments in the movie, I think she did really well.

I liked Courtney B. Vance’s portrayal of Agent Cobra Bubbles. They added in new aspects of the character that added to the original character which I liked. There was a bit less of him, but I liked what we got. Though I wouldn’t have said no to Ving Rhames reprising the role from the original movie.

There are three other cameos (besides Chris Sanders) in the movie who I at first didn’t notice because I didn’t know all of the cast of the original movie, but I looked up some and now I realized who they were and now I retroactively enjoyed seeing them in the movie.

There is also a main character from the original missing from this movie which I think hurt the movie. You’ll know if you don’t already.

The movie still had chaotic fun and heart that the original did, and I enjoyed those aspects. But there is something missing from it that I can’t quite place. I think it may be just as simple as the directing wasn’t quite right. But having said that, it was a fun movie to watch and the kids in the theater watching seemed to enjoyed it, so that’s good.

I certainly prefer the original movie to this, but it’s still a good movie for kids to enjoy and learn from. Oh and Stitch and the other aliens looked great!!

Mid-credit scene: As with the original movie, this one also had photos and drawings continuing the story in a photo-album-like way. So, that was nice to see again.

End-credit scene: Nope. I thought there would be something suggesting more, but there wasn’t.

Eight-away from not being able to all fit on the bed!

Evidently, this is an eventful issue of Poison Ivy. I wonder what there is to learn about Shiva. The final issue of this run of Black Canary dropped. Star Wars has finally entered uncharted waters with this new run and era starting after Return of the Jedi (and also after the Battle of Jakku)!! Jeff got another collected special! Phoenix guests in Spider-Gwen. A new X-Men team debuted! Storm’s 50th continues. Amadeus Cho has been around for 20 years! And so, they gave him a special! I still don’t know why Ms. Marvel didn’t get a 10-years special last year, but oh well.

Love these sticker design covers from Rian Gonzales. Though I think they made the rest of them incentive variants. So, hopefully I can get them. And this is one of the next connecting variants for this title. Fingers crossed.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to get this variant or not, but I decided on it when I saw it in-person! Bravo Kyuyong Eom!

I love this Dan Mora art! And there’s the next AAPI connecting cover.

I love Batgirl there of course, but I like the way the city is drawn very much.

I guess I didn’t notice that there was a poster design set for this title. I’ll have to backtrack and find them elsewhere. And this is of course the next connecting cover.

For Dreamer, by Dreamer.

Since there’s a new Star Wars #1, of course that means many variants for this run’s first issue. The main cover is Noto of course.

As usual, I got the first of the anniversary set for 10 years since The Force Awakens! I had to get the design with Luke’s first action figure from Kenner! I really liked the foil variant for this! David Nakayama gave us a fantastic cover!! There’s the next logo variant. And that last cover I just really liked.

Happy to see Jeff. Happy to see Gurihiru doing the art.

Love both of these! Mark Brooks doing a fantastic job on the main cover. And Nimit Malavia also bringing the heat.

More Ellie!

I liked this Clarke cover because of all these characters being on it. and I’m always happy to see Dauterman’s legacy collage covers! This Ejikure variant is fantastic!!

Love these covers! A legacy main cover and a Nakayama variant!
