June 25, 2025 (My 700th post!)

Wow! I didn’t realize I was at post 700 yet! I puked have liked my Superman post to have been the 700th, but eh, that’s fine.

This was another week with SO many comics. At least it didn’t overflow like last time. But still this was a lot.

We got the next Wolverine and Kitty Pride comic. This is the final issue of this run of Spider-Boy. We got some digital comics collected in an issue during the Fall of X. This is also the final issue of this run of Fantastic Four, before the new run starts very soon. This is also the final issue of this run of Deadpool, but it’s also the 350th issue! Another title continues Wades adventures in a four-way team-up title. We got the next Giant-Size one-shot in Kamala’s adventure. The final issue of Sweet Paprika: Open For Business dropped. The penultimate issue of Vigilante/Eagly miniseries arrived. Is Red Arrow dead again? Flash is dealing with Eclipso while Mr. Terrific deals with Spectre. The final(ish) issue of the All-In event We Are Yesterday arrived. And we finally got the first of four issues depicting the updated DC history! I’m very excited to get to that. I loved the Marvel miniseries from a few years ago.

The first variant, I got because of the Samurai theme. The other one is dubbed the Farewell Variant Edition, so I thought I might as well get the variant for the final issue.

These are both fantastic covers. The first one depicting THAT moment from the X-Men 97 animated series. And the next is Aka having done a great job on Jubilee. I really like this slightly new character design that she’s been in for a while.

The next two Fantastic Four variants for this last issue of this run. Another Galloway and another Disney variant.

This is the main cover and the Art of Marvel Studios variant. both look great!

Taurin Clarke does such a good job with everything!

I certainly wish more of these variants had Kamala on them, but I’m not complaining about these covers because they are amazing. The main cover I assume is an homage cover. The second has Blink looking amazing via Talavera’s art. And the third one is Artgerm doing Rachel proud!

The next set of Sweet Paprika: Open For Business covers! That fifth one is the polybagged one.

Forbes did such a great job with this cover, I didn’t even see the second person there when I first looked at it. Acuña created a masterful work of art with Carol and Hal. And I love this David Aja cover of Oliver!

This issue had a lot of fantastic covers! The first one I like for Kara being there in that jacket (that the super family doesn’t wear enough in the comics, mainly on the covers). The second is an incentive cover that I had to get for Doomsday. The next one by Marc Aspinall reminded me immediately of Norman Rockwell’s art, and I do love that art. And I just liked the Pride variant! They look great in the suits next to each other.

Spectre. And the second cover is just a great color design and concept for a Mr. Terrific cover.

This is the next Ejikure cover and the Pride cover is in a fun Polaroid style. Though I got it for Dreamer being there.

The many (and expensive) variants for The New History of the DC Universe! The first is part of a Dan Mora set featuring a single hero on each cover. The second and sixth are by Ryan Sook. He’s also doing a set. The next is a blank variant and the next Artgerm of course. The fifth one is Koblish, which is another set of wraparound connecting covers, and I hope they connect this time.

The Sook set seems to be all foil covers, so I thought that showing the non-foil one would be fine. I have an idea for the commission for these blank covers. Artgerm’s cover looks fantastic!

June 2025 Late Issues 2

Most of these issues are from the last month or so. The first one though, is from last year! It’s from one of the cover collections I needed the last issue for. So that’ll show up in the next Completed Collections post. The Phoenix issue is for the character design. Cable is for the double Cable of it all. Werewolf by night is for Gist. That Harley cover is just fun. The Heat Seeker variants are finally here! And as usual, the polybagged one is an NSFW cover. And that Aphra issue is the first of the new run and I just forgot to get two.

Again, NSFW warning for the last image.

Superman (July (8th early screening) 11, 2025)

Superman is back.

I loved this.

The visuals were amazing. I am seeing this twice more, one of those times will be in IMAX 3D, and I can’t wait to see the visuals in that format. I already know which ones will look glorious. The music was brilliant. As always, Gunn and his team know where to place music and make it all flow together.

The cast all did a phenomenal job. David Corenswet was fantastic as Superman. And he was fantastic as Clark (though I certainly want to see more of him being Clarke around others). He brought so much heart to the role. He showed strength and kindness. He exemplified what Superman and Clark represent in similar ways to how Christopher Reeve and Tyler Hoechlin both have represented those roles.

Rachel Brosnahan played a wonderful Lois Lane. Lois is a tough character to get right. I’ve loved most of the live-action versions of her. But the on-screen version of her that has always represented her the best for me has been the one from the Superman: The Animated Series. And I think Rachel felt the most like that version of Lois. She brought strength of character, conviction and heart to the role. I can’t wait to see more from her in the years to come.

Nicholas Hoult was an intriguing Lex Luthor. I think I still need to see more of him, but I like the way he was portrayed. It was similar yet different from other versions we’ve seen before. He held such command when things were going his way, but when things go wrong, you see who he is underneath. I certainly want to see more from Lex. I wonder where he’ll pop up next.

The rest of the supporting cast was also fantastic. The Daily Planet group was colorful and held such a presence. I need to see more of them in a normal setting though, I enjoyed them a lot.

The other heroes were a fun bunch! Guy felt like Guy, and I honestly wasn’t sure about Fillion in the role, but he was perfect! Mr. Terrific was so well-portrayed, he will be fun to see more of and how he interacts with other heroes. And I did enjoy Hawkgirl, but I need to see more of her character. But either way, Isabela Merced did a great job.

Lex’s group was frustrating on purpose, not the metahumans, the others, you’ll see what I mean. I understood why they were the way they were, but I still got annoyed, which is how we’re supposed to feel.

The antagonists were fun to see work. Their powers were cool. I do wish we’d have more about one of them, since she seemed to hold a lot of anger. The other, well, all of what they were made sense.

The world James Gunn has given us is very much lived-in. I felt the DCU everywhere. Yes, there were cameos (and they were PERFECTLY done), but the small things also made everything feel like a universe that just started but also one that’s been here for a while. Big Belly Burger for the win! I can’t wait to see more of the DCU. We’re finally here!

As I said before, I’m seeing this two more times. I’m very excited for those screenings!

Mid-credit scene: Yes. Short and sweet.

End-credit scene: Yes. Short and funny.

Jurassic World: Rebirth (June 2, 2025)

Well, I certainly enjoyed that!

It was both different and similar to the other movies. I liked the new characters. They had depth in short moments. And of course all the acting was great. It was quite a large cast but of course, as in all of these movies, that shrinks as we go. I was never really sure what would happen a lot of the time.

The actions scenes were fantastic. And the visuals were as good as they always are. I know about some of the practical dinos, but I wonder how many others were practical.

The plot was relatively straightforward. And the music was enjoyable too. Though I certainly feel like one or two of the first uses of the Jurassic Park theme were completely unnecessary. But the rest of them were well-placed.

There weren’t too many references to the other movies which was fine. This really seemed like mostly its own thing. I wouldn’t say no to a couple more stand-alone movies.

There was heart in this that I liked a lot with both groups of the cast. Certainly an enjoyable movie!

Mid-credit scene: No.

Post-credit scene: No.

June 18, 2025

Terra and Slade are causing trouble. Diana’s foe is Mouseman? We got the next issue of Superman Unlimited. Krypto got a minseries. Sister Sorrow made her debut in the Bring on the Bad Guys issue. Godzilla and the Avengers have a conflict. Doctor Aphra’s new run in this new era of Star Wars started! Psylocke seems to be having a rough time. Emma Frost got a new run! It’s possible that this is the last issue of the Power Man title, but I’m not sure. And Jeff the Land Shark got a new run. Doom’s event continues and Gwenpool continues to have Gwen problems.

Always happy to see Slade on a cover! And Homare did an amazing job with Terra on the next one!

Dan Mora made High-Father look amazing! I love that we got some George Perez tribute covers, I liked this Zatanna one the best. There’s the blank variant for Krypto. And Similar to the James Gunn cover from a bit ago, we got another celebrity cover with Stephen Colbert on it!

For some reason I thought that the main cover was the B cover, hence it’s on the right side. The other two are showing a new character named Sister Sorrow. I really like the character design! And the main cover is there because of Mephisto of course. I think he’s the one making the events of this series of one-shots happen.

Whenever we get crossover covers, we always get some very creative ones. I think all the issues of this get a wrestling match poster style cover. And then the other one is just a nice looking homage cover by Michael Allred.

The Resistance seeing Starkiller base is always a great moment. I loved the way Magneto is breaking the comic itself. and Psylocke looks amazing on this cover!!

So Many Jeff covers! The main one is by Guri Hiru of course. The blank is there, and I think I have a good idea for a commission for it. The Marvel rivals one just looks good. The foil one looks great on the back and front, hence so many photos. Artgerm’s cover is fantastic! And Todd Nauck and Rachelle Rosenberg made a fun cover!

This Vecchio cover of Storm is amazing.

Joshua Cassara and Matt Wilson made a fun dynamic cover! Poor Ben! Leirix created a creepy cover. And Gerald Parel made a nice cover.

Posters! The first one is the main cover for this title. And the other two you’ll recognize from last time when I posted them. Those ones I paid for because I wanted the ones in the tubes since they wouldn’t have the folds. And these were the free ones.

June 11, 2025

SO MANY COMICS. Somehow, the most I’ve gotten at once in years I think. Mostly variants and a lot of issue one’s.

We got a the first issue of a Jason Todd and Batman microseries. Absolute Bane has been revealed. Action comics started a new arc where we see into Clark’s time as Superboy. We got the second issue of this Supergirl run. Trinity got a new run. Marvel Rivals got a title. The next issue of Star Wars dropped where we fight a new enemy. We got a new Silver Surfer run that focused on his apparent impending death. Doom’s event continued. And through that event we got a new run of Runnaways! And I am very happy for that. Spider-Girl got her own title spinning out of Spider-Boy. We got a new run, with a new team, for The New Avengers. Marvel’s Pride issue dropped. And we got the next issue in Kamala’s time-travel adventure.

I couldn’t even fit these three on the bed! This is the aforementioned part 2 of Kamala’s journey through time.

This first cover is by the legendary Dan Jurgens. He’s drawn Superman over the decades and was big in the 90’s drawing the Superman runs. And W. Scott Forbes did an amazing job with the next one. The luminescent effect looks fantastic!

These are the next Supergirl covers. I was going to have the covers in a gallery but I think I’m going to have each the whole run’s covers at the end. Not sure how I’ll arrange them yet. The main cover is fun. The B cover is of course Artgerm’s next for the run. The third is by Saowee, I think it’s been a while since I’ve gotten something from them. I know there was at least one in the collections posts somewhere, that I posted yesterday. And I love this Homare cover.

These are the next Trinity covers. The main cover being the next All-In cover. Dan Mora giving us a nice legacy cover of the three ages of her who appear in the run. And a blank variant.

I just really liked this Batman cover. And Raven looks great as a vampire by Davide Paratore.

Jenny Frison gave such detail on those tentacle tongues! And Mirka Andolfo bringing on a mermaid who’s just having some fun with some heads.

Peach Momoko serving greatness. I love that this version of Psylocke has grown so much, being part of Marvel Rivals is fantastic. Part of this issues even dips back into her Demon Days universe!

The main cover is here just because Palpatine looks creepy and great in it. And I love whenever we get photo covers from the Star Wars movies.

These are the next variants for issue 2 of this new Star Wars run.

I got this variant simply because I liked the look of Luke jumping in front of the explosion. And this anniversary cover is here because Finn holding Luke’s lightsaber was such a great moment that should have led to so many adventures for him as a Jedi. And I rarely get the Star Wars action figure covers but this one I had to because it shows the first Vader action figure I ever got! Hence I took a photo with them both afterwards!

These are the next Ultimate X-Men covers. I love that blue and pink one!

Betsy Cola did a great job with this Magik cover! And Kate looks great in this pride variant! I love this Werneck cover of Phoenix! And Galactus looks foreboding in this Joe Quesada cover!

These are the Runaways variants! I’m happy that there were so many!

I had to have these two next to each other in their own space. A wonderful couple and amazing covers! Ejikure drew Karolina so beautifully! And Hetrick similarly gave us a gorgeous Nico cover!

The Forbes cover with all of them looks so peaceful and colorful. The Momoko one with Nico and Molly is lovely. And the wraparound cover by Elena Casagrande is just full of nostalgia.

Got this for Kamala being back there of course. I’m not sure if this is also an homage cover or not.

Nakayama made a fun dynamic cover for the main cover! And Momoko did the same with her cover!

I was happy to get such a good number of choices for this titles variants. The logo cover is a must. The MCU cover is also. I liked the use of the asterisk on that third one. And the last one is an homage to the first Dark Avengers cover from 2009.

The main cover and one of the variants for this year’s pride issue.

The main cover is Werneck and the second is Vecchio.

Both the variants are fantastic! Both very different but great! I don’t think I’ve gotten a cover from Ivan Talavera in a long time. This is certainly a great one. And the second one by Lee Garbett is fantastic.

Completed Variant Sets 13 — June 19, 2025

Tomorrow, I’ll post new comics that I got today.

This is Jen Bartel’s next set of She-Hulk’s next run following that previous one. This run was far too short! I was sad that in got cancelled. But these covers are so fun and different than Jen’s previous She-Hulk cover set.

Peach Momoko has such an innovative artistic mind. she has a couple distinct styles from herself and then she dropped this which was another different style!

Now, I think these are a set of three. I tried searching to see if there were more covers of this design of hers, but I found nothing. If there are any more from 2024, someone let me know!

Leirix did such a good job on these fun covers!

I think these are the only J. Scott Campbell covers that I’ve bought from the store. I got a pack of some others at some point but haven’t taken photos. But I really like these.

This set looks so good together! There are virgin variants of these designs, but I like the X-Men logos in the background.

That’s it for now! I’ve not planned when to do the next bunch of these. But, doing this I think 2-3 more times and I should be caught up with all variants and should be able to keep up to date with variant photos. But we’ll see.

Completed Variant Sets 12 — June 19, 2025

There will be one more of these posts after this.

W. Scott Forbes did such a fantastic job with these covers! I love these character designs and the photoshoot theme.

These are the main covers for those 50th issues of both titles. The main covers are just paired and work well together.

Peach Momoko did such a great job with these covers!

She did more with each issue of this event main issues, but I wanted these as a set because of this couple pair of course.

Kenya Danino. Such an amazing artist. Every time I posted these in the main posts, I was excited to see these all together.

These look so amazing all next to each other. The colors and character designs are all just fantastic!

David Nakayama did all the main covers for this title’s run. And they also look so good together!

I took two photos of these with the light shining from the bottom and then top respectively. The light slightly changes the covers. They look amazing!

Completed Variant Sets 11 — June 19, 2025

I will be starting with the connecting covers sets again.

So, unlike last time, the connecting covers weren’t as bad with the connecting aspect of the covers. Having said that, none except one set actually connected without needing to overlap, line up misaligned covers or having a space of missing art.

These are the Nakayama trio from his cover run of the current Poison Ivy run.

I had to overlap with these covers. They almost made it! But they look so good together! I love his sense of legacy with the Ivy’s from different eras.

This is a very dynamic connecting cover with Apocalypse and Annihilation at war with each other with the others in the background.

This also overlapped, though, again it works well.

Such a cool cover set. Warring sides and Clark at the center.

This was a misaligned set. I lined up the image focused on the Superman hair curl because if I didn’t, it just looked weird with the curl cut up.

Here’s another Nakayama set during the Fall of X. I love these designs and the shot itself.

And unfortunately, it’s misaligned and a bit disproportioned with one of the covers. I lined it up as best as I could. Though the art is so good, I really don’t notice the flaw.

This is a nice set by W. Scott Forbes. I love the bright colors and the scene itself.

I think this was the only set that actually connected properly. So, woot!

There were a lot of wars going on last year. This is another dynamic set.

This was another overlap, but at least it works when it’s overlapped and lines up.

This cover should be familiar because it’s been here before. Taurin Clarke is just so good!

This had an overlap and perhaps something missing? But they also did this design as a wraparound cover. So I’m fine with this having a flaw.

This is just a fun design even with the tone of the end of the Krakoan age happening.

These also overlapped.

These designs were variants for each of these titles’ 50th issues. I like the characters from each title in the background of each cover.

This set was misaligned, but it still looks good.

I’ve been waiting to have this set together. Björn Barends did such a great job with these!

I know you can’t zoom in on this, but they line up perfectly, but, it’s all overlap. That’s the problem with the covers that go for card material of the covers because the cover doesn’t fully wrap around the issue itself. So they just all overlap.
