Ok. That issue up top is the Scarlett With cover that I mentioned getting the shirt of. That will be in the next post. But, I mean, LOOK AT IT!!! It’s gorgeous! : ) I would want that as a poster. Oh and look there, the first full-body appearance on a cover of Godspeed in The Flash! He was in Rebirth: Flash 1 as a cameo and then appeared for the first time in issue 3.

It’s crazy to think that Jon Kent (Clark and Lois’s son being held by Lois on the cover here) only came into the picture during the event (Convergence) that ended the New 52 continuity and that currently, Jon has been given the mantle of Superman while Clark is dealing with other things. Also, this seems to be the first appearance of an issue that I bought just for the cover. I have some issues that I buy just because the art on the cover is just so amazing that I must have it to be displayed somehow (Sometimes, if they’re A Covers, they get a poster from it and I always hope for that). Other times I get variants because a character I loved is on it, or because a cover is done by an artist that I love. I’m not sure if this is the first one that I got because a cool cover, but there will be hundreds more of these XD. Plus, I mean that is just an awesome Carnage cover!

I was excited for this week’s issues because of Deathstroke #1. I’ve been a fan of Slade Wilson since I watched the Teen Titans cartoon, so I was intrigued to be able to read his comics. Of course there are old runs of Deathstroke, but I haven’t looked many up since I knew a bit about his story already. Also, at the time that that Daredevil issue came out, Marvel had a deal with a certain retainer where they printed certain covers onto tee-shirts. The deal stopped long ago, but it was fun while it lasted. I have a shirt of this Daredevil cover and one of a Scarlett Witch cover (though the printing on that shirt was damaged by the washer or dryer >__<). I’ll point out that cover when I get to it.

For this, I think the store sold out of Flash #1 and so I had to wait till issue 3 came out for the second printing of issue 1. That happens if an issue sells out everywhere and has to be reprinted because demand is so high. Rarely there can be third printings, though I think I’ve only noticed that happen one or two times, but I’ve never looked into it, so there are probably…….yup, third printing has happened (at least at Marvel) only 175 times. Couldn’t find much of a list for DC, but I’m sure it’s happened there too.

Ah, I forgot that I would tag some posts with the hosts of the Marvel podcast and some with the DC hosts, and the way I’m searching my Twitter is via one of the Marvel hosts username. So I will have to keep an eye out for other photos like the second one below this that I only saw while looking for the next photo tagged. This second photo was taken a day after the first one, so I didn’t expect it. It’s also possible I might have gone in the next day if these issues arrived at the store after I left the day before.

Also, that second photo shows the debut issues of New-Superman which introduced us to a newly formed Justice League of China. The title did ok but not too well. Though some of the other characters in the comic besides Superman of China were more popular. The Batman of China showed up recently in Batman comics and China’s Flash, Avery, has been in Flash comics on and off since she showed up. She’s even finally made her debut in The Flash show on the CW this season (In the season 8 mid-season premier, the week before last at the time of writing this). She’s not the same iteration of the character, but it’s pretty cool to see her.

The three at the bottom were free. The Harley & Suicide Squad issue was probably to help promote the first Suicide Squad movie. And the other too are True Believers reissues from Marvel. Those are usually given out to help promote old, first or important issues of characters to get people to get into characters if a movie, show comic event or something is happening soon and they want people to be aware of said character. It can also be a good way to read classic or Golden Age issues. Though also anniversary years can be good for that as fancy reissues can be printed.

As you can see, this was the beginning of the Rebirth era of DC. Even almost 6 years later, I’m still so happy with everything Rebirth has done since then. And oh look, it’s the first appearance of comic of Riri Williams (Ironheart). I remember knowing that I had to get that since new characters’ intro issues can be quite a big deal to have sometimes if the characters goes over well. And since in the next couple years from now we’re expecting an Ironheart series on Disney+, it’s safe to say, she has come a long way.

Originally, my comment on this said that this was my comic haul. Eventually I tagged these as comic book hauls. But it’s hilarious that four comics (or even a dozen) were a lot at one time. Nowadays, I get many many more (even without me picking them up ever two weeks, if I go back to weekly when pandemic stuff hopefully goes away). I remember this was exciting because DC was ending the New 52 era and I was ecstatic about that (as most were). And Marvel was going through dramatic times as Capt was having a lot going on in his issues, oh and the whole Civil War II event also, sure, haha.

Evidently, I was just in the comicbook store that day or at least the day before, and bought this. I posted this on a Tuesday, so I’m not sure why I was there and the issue came out 6.5 weeks before I got it. In my post I tagged it as me having random purchased it, so, I suppose it really was that I saw it and bought it. How could I not say yes to such a celebratory issue? XD

Also, as I get to the proper comic posts, which will just be photos of the issues from the week or weeks that I got issues during, there may just be the title of the week I got them and not text like this and my first post. I probably will type a bit when I get to posters, but mostly these won’t have much text. So, enjoy my little stories from these first few posts while they last!
