Ms. Marvel Season 1 Finale (2022)

Ok. So. WOOOOOOO!!!!! It was a decently paced 50 minutes of so many things that make Kamala a wonderful character. Things happened fast from episode 5’s ending, and they barely paused at all. There was heart and rage and sorrow and community and love and fear and humor and of course, action.

All of the actors did wonderfully! The cast has been amazing and I’m glad we’re going to see some of them in The Marvels next year.

There were a couple phrases from the comics used and I was utterly happy with that. It’s not really a spoiler to say that she looks amazing in her costume. It’s been in ads and such.

I like how things were resolved. It wasn’t too complicated and made sense. There is one moment which I know all Ms. Marvel fans will feel unsure about. I don’t know if I like it, but if that’s where things go, we have to deal with it. But they could have just said one word and it would have made all the difference. We’ll see. But regardless, Kamala is amazing and I love all iterations of her!

Mid-credit scene: SO MUCH YES. Certainly not how I anticipated that going, but sure. Haha. It’ll be a wait before we see what happens next. Can’t wait!

I’m so glad that this series exists. I’m so thankful that this character exists. She is still my favorite marvel character and I can’t wait to see how she grows and changes in both the comics and her MCU iteration.

Oh and remember: Good is not a thing you are, it’s a thing you do.

Just a notice for…oh wait, hello 400th post! O_O

(First off, I will post the last reaction to Ms. Marvel tonight or tomorrow depending on if I want to stay up past 4am to do the writing.)

So, I will be an San Diego Comic Con (FINALLY) again this year, and I’m leaving for it on the 19th. So, I won’t be able to get issues that week. I will have to wait till the Thursday after SDCC to pick up the issues from July 13th and July 20th. Though that gives me a little less than a week to get through them all before I get the next two-week pile.

And I guess this is the 400th post of mine. Wow, alrighty then. Well, I know this blog reaches a very tiny audience, but the reach was never the point. But yeah, woot for 400 posts! I still hope to add more things to this other than movies and comic photos, it’s just taking a while to get to the other things I want to do. Fingers crossed!

To those of whom I do share this blog with, thank you ^__^

July 6, 2022

(Ok, so my parents and I went on a trip for a family wedding for 4 days and I was trying to catch up on Stranger Things S4 part 2 and reaction videos for that, so posts got delayed. Hence this all being days late. Oh, and I’m not completely done with the previous comic pile (June 22). GAHHHH!!! I dislike being behind in my reading).

The DW story with the Fugitive Doctor continues (even if not canon, I’m interested it what could be. Though I wouldn’t say no to a spin-off series). I think this Mighty Morphin issue is the penultimate one of this run. That MTG series has been so good and I was SO excited when I saw that variant. You’ll see below. Much of Sabretooth. Even though the Jane and Thor comic is of course because of the movie, I’m liking it. I think the Black Panther arc is coming to a close. I’m loving the Halcyon Legacy title. And also loving Carnage. This is the last issue of the multiversal Miles event miniseries. The Teen Justice series is intriguing, but I need to know more, which makes sense since I’m only read issue one. Batman started a new arc with this issue. and Ivy is continuing her machinations. Flashpoint Beyond and Dark Crisis continued. And we got the first of the prequel comic specials connected to he upcoming Black Adam movie. These do intrigue me.

Alright, many variants to follow and then posters.

Oh, right, this was just to show the light better on the issues.

I have these two images separate since I like having the landscape covers in their own gallery.

See, I told you, a great Peach Momoko couple of weeks. She’s such a great artist! Even though she has a distinct style, her covers don’t always follow the same white spacing or color tone.

Had to get this funky Sabretooth cover. There is so much detail there!! I can’t imagine drawing that.

Another David Nakayama cover! I actually was surprised that store had this one. He does a lot of exclusive covers for his site. In fact I just pre-ordered one.

Another one of the amazing Ivy covers (each issue has had fantastic ones). Jenny Frison makes gorgeous art. I have to make myself not buy them all. But sometimes I see one that I must have. This is just intoxicating (pun intended, haha).

And here is the amazing surprise that I was so very excited to get!! The surprise being when I was looking at this week’s issues for my list to my store, not that uncovering the variant was he surprise. Nicol Bolas is my favorite MTG character and this cover is just glorious. I intend to get this graded like I did with that Ugin variant from a few months ago. Not for the value, just for the preservation of the cover and that I wanted them to look fancy, haha.

And here are the posters I got for this month. The cover of the new Shang-Chi run and the new Peach Momoko X-Men run set in the feudal world she built. I would assume this story is based off of Civil War.

June 29, 2022

(Ok, so my parents and I went on a trip for a family wedding for 4 days and I was trying to catch up on Stranger Things S4 part 2 and reaction videos for that, so posts got delayed. Hence this all being days late. Oh, and I’m not completely done with the previous comic pile. GAHHHH!!! I dislike being behind in my reading).

There’s another Power Rangers special. That Aquamen issue I got just for the cover. Task Force Z is chugging along. I think Harley is about to start a new arc after this issue. Deathstroke is starting a new arc that’s flashing back to his origins. Clark should be started to make moves on Warworld. We finally have the final issue of the Batman/ Catwoman maxiseries from Tom King. I’m excited for more from Vader series and the Obiwan series. The new runs of Captain America I still can’t get to because I’m behind in one volume of a Capt event series that happened that I wasn’t sure was part of the main story or something else, so I didn’t read it when it was coming out in issues. I’ll get to it. X-Force is having a very bad time of things. Sabertooth is still planning his big move. Tony and Patsy got a one-shot. And we have a mystery in the Ironcat series. And I’m very excited for the Jessica Jones series about her variants.

Favorite variant covers to follow.

So many amazing covers! The Power Rangers one is mainly because I remember loving that villain on the cover so I got two copies of the issue. I always look for the action figure variants of characters I love or designs I enjoy, so the Ironcat one jumped out at me. Also the Peach Momoko variant for Ironcat was fantastic (this was a good couple weeks for Peach Momoko covers). As I’ve said before, I love covers that show character history or legacy and Dauterman makes these covers so very well. The She-Hulk one is great! And as always, I have to get an Artgerm cover, so there we have Helcat. And it’s almost time for the second Hellfire Gala (can’t believe it’s been a year), so we’re getting Gala variants like this beautiful one from Jen Bartel of Jean. And finally, the last Bat/Cat cover had to have that legacy hit for me with all the versions of Bruce and Selina that have been shown in this series from their character’s history. I wish DC would make that a poster!! And remember that that series isn’t part of DC continuity, this has been like a What If type story for Tom King’s story that didn’t happen for their wedding.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

July 7, 2022 – Wow, that was such a fun movie!! I loved seeing so many characters we’ve not seen in a couple years. And the bunch of new characters were enjoyable too.

Thor and Thor were great together as they always are. Jane and his stories have always been tied to one another. Natalie Portman was great as Mighty Thor and looked like she had fun with it. Chris Hemsworth was wonderful as ever in his role.

Valkyrie and Korg and all the other Asgardians were fantastic. So much was happening and they all performed brilliantly. Oh, also, the Guardians time on screen was fun and had heart.

Gorr, The God Butcher. I still wish they’d had him look closer to his comic version, but Christian Bale was phenomenal as Gorr. He was terrifying and disturbing. Certainly a perfect choice for the role.

As to the connections to the Jason Aaron comic run of Thor where Gorr and Mighty Thor debuted, there were many specific similarities to those stories and how things started and ended, and as these movies work, things have to be a bit sped up for everything to work. In this case, I think they did well with matching what they could in the limited time-frame they were allowed.

The special effects were glorious as always of course. And the new locations we visited were amazing. New Asgard looked great and seeing how things have been going there was nice. The scenes with Zeus were fantastic too! That setting was spectacular! I will have to look at those scenes carefully to see if there are any particular faces I missed. For example, if I see Khonshu or some other god. I don’t think I saw him there, but, there were a lot of them. and of course the music was amazing and the comedy was great. Oh and a couple unexpected cameos early on XD.

Oh. Toothnasher and Toothgrinder were the best. XD

How things ended suggests a number of possible paths forward. I have a couple ideas I’d love to see come out of this. Who knows what we’ll get eventually. all in all, I really had fun with this movie. I wouldn’t say no to a show spinning out of this somehow. Can’t wait to see it again!

Mid-credit scene: Yes. Setting up some intriguing things.

End-credit scene: Also, yes. Potentially setting up something I want to happen, but maybe something else.

Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 4 (2022)

A lot happened this episode, it had fast faced moments and character building moments.

Kamala learning a little bit more about herself and Aisha from both her grandmother and the other person she learns from were good for her. her seeing her culture and being in Pakistan for probably the first time was lovely to see. It reminded me of when I visited India (when I was a teenager) for the first time since I was adopted as a baby. Her experiencing her roots through her culture was wonderful.

I still think this is way too early to meet Red Dagger, but he was fun to meet and their interactions with each other were entertaining. And we got a hint of her future costume ^__^ Then everything else happens quite quickly.

The way the episode ends, wow XD alrighty then. I wouldn’t think we have time for this kind of thing to happen in only 6 episodes, but eh, gotta go for it if they don’t know if we’ll get more than a season yet or not. I’m excited to see what happens next!

June 22, 2022

I don’t know a lot about Milestone beyond what I knew from the Static Shock animated series and various characters that I now know were of this brand, so the Milestones in History title seemed like a good way to help with that beyond eventually getting to the Milestone Omnibus I got a few months ago. Duo’s first issue caught my interest, so we’ll see where that goes. Black Adam got a maxiseries, though I’m not sure whether it’s in the main DC continuity or just it’s own thing. It’s not a Black Label series, so I feel like it could be canon? Again, I’ll see. Dark Crisis continues with a couple tie-ins from Young Justice and Flash. The CW Berlantiverse/Arrowverse crossover event has it’s final issue here. I have enjoyed this event, it helped with all the cancelled shows this season. And I am wondering what connections there will be to this in Flash season 9 when we get it. Crimson Reign continues. There is a lot going on in all the X-titles. Punisher gets a one issue homage to the original War Journal I think. Miles is learning more about this other world and things just aren’t good. Though this Moon Girl and Miles special is the first in various team-up titles coming at us this summer, so at least there are some fun things going on for Miles (whenever this takes place in relation to his current story). Though Kamala is getting a few team-ups, that has me ecstatic! And we got the Marvel Vices Pride special too, can’t wait to get to that!

Following are many amazing variants.

As I said in the last post, I do enjoy the portrayal of legacy on covers, hence getting this one.

I really have started to like Razzah covers recently.

Another wonderful Peach Momoko cover here.

Here are more AAPI covers. When I get them all, I’ll probably post them all in one photo (I’m not sure, but this might be the last three of them, I’ll have to check).

This Hellfire Gala Dauterman cover is just, I mean, look at Wanda!!

I had to get this Jen Bartel cover too. I mean I tend to get her covers anyway, but still! It’s gorgeous!

I saved this for last because just really like this cover. It’s an homage cover, it’s coloring is beautiful, the scene itself is lovely. I had to get another copy for the cover.

June 15, 2022

This post is a bit late just because the couple days after I got comics were just busy, so I couldn’t get to taking photos till yesterday and then I was busy with other things yesterday and last night so I didn’t have time to post these till today.

Since I’m so utterly behind in all the Power Ranger titles I have no idea who died. Issue 11 is the penultimate issue of The Marvels. This Captain America title I’m not quite sure about since I’m not sure if it’s a 616 story or a standalone title, but we’ll see. Looking forward to all the drama happening in Wolverine. I’m excited for the Hulkling and Wiccan special! And even though I haven’t yet read the Fraction run of Iron Fist, I’m looking forward to these two Immortal Weapons paying a visit to the new Iron Fist. Intrigued by the Miles and Gwen multiverse stories continuing. Tony and Patsy having something big happening soon. Of course the Reckoning War still rages. General stuff happening in DC issues. It was nice that they gave Tim Drake a Pride special, I’m excited for that.

Favorite variants after.

I always like covers that depict the legacy and history of characters, so this Iron Fist cover showing the past Iron Fists behind the new one was a no-brainer. These window shade variants that have been popping up recently have been nice, I’m not sure why I like them so much, but I do, haha. And of course another Dauterman cover this time one of the first among his second Hellfire Gala covers. Laura looks great!

June 2022 late issues

Another DWM from last year. The A Cover for the new Punisher run since my store only had variants when it came out. Another copy of that variant for Thor 26 as a gift for a friend. Copies of the Thor and Hulk crossover so I can put them in their respective boxes. And the other two images are just other issues that I forgot to include in the first photo. I guess I was rushing a bit.

This is a variant from a couple months ago. It finally came in and it’s fantastic! I love when artists make that kind of glow effect just with colors. These Gwen covers have been great.

This is just a late issue of Ghost Rider from a few weeks ago.
