Aladdin (2019) and Brightburn (2019)

May 23, 2019 – Alright. Double the movie tonight.

Firstly: Aladdin. I loved it! It was enough of a mix of callbacks and new ideas to work for me. I mean it still would have made more sense for Jafar to be older. But eh. I enjoyed the music a lot. I definitely was singing a bit, though it is a bit different than the original music. The beat is a bit slower on most songs. But still great. I was content with this live-action Disney movie ^__^

Mid-credit scene is just in the credits straight off from the final scene. But there is no other scene, no end-credit scene.

Secondly: Brightburn. I also enjoyed this movie. The scares were a mix of jump-scares and just horrifying situations. And there is gore. I’ll say that as a little warning. But I really liked this movie. Yeah, it basically is what if Clark Kent went bad very early on. But it’s very different in the way they go about it. It is quite chilling. If I think about times a Superman has gone bad (i.e. Red Sun, Ultraman, the Justice Lords’ Superman etc.), this was very different, not just because it’s the kid going dark. It’s something else.

Funnily enough, regarding credit scenes, it’s the same here. A mid-credit kind-of thing. It intrigued me. There is no end-credit scene.

It was a fun night!!

Avengers (4): Endgame

April 25, 2019 – I’m home. I’m not gonna say a lot about Endgame till Monday maybe? Convention weekend. But wow. Endgame. A decade led to everything that that movie was. Whatever comes next, I’m super ready for it. Oh and duh, I LOVED it.

This is the cup and popcorn tin I got. The tins were the of the founding avengers.

Thank you to Kevin Feige for crafting all this. Thank you for Jon Favreau for starting things off. And thanks to all the actors and film crew and writers for the MCU. The Infinity Saga was magnificent. Onto The last movie of Phase 3 in two months and one week.

Hellboy (2019)

April 11, 2019 – Got done with Hellboy. I have to say I enjoyed it. It was fun and funny and fast paced and not too complex. It did miss the heart that the first Hellboy movie had and I enjoyed a lot, but it wasn’t bad. There was gore, it’s monster hunting, of course there would be. I didn’t mind it. When it all starts going crazy, those creatures are so freaky!! You’ll see.

The last scene of the movie hinted at a certain character joining in a potential sequel.

One mid-credit scene. Funny and interesting.

One end-credit scene. Mysterious.

Both hint at potential sequels.

Shazam (2019)

March 23, 2019 – Hello there. Well I thoroughly enjoyed Shazam. XD It was funny and I loved all the characters! The references to the other DC Films were manageable and not over the top. I’m pretty sure the story was similar to the New 52 take on the characters. Sivana was pretty cool, his motivation was very human. I wasn’t surprised by the way things happened in the end, partially because of spoiler toys, but also I would have hoped it would have happened anyway. So that’s pretty cool. It’s a story about family and it’s lovely. The end of the movie, omg XD I wish it could have been him, but whatever, same effect XD

The mid-credits themselves were funny and poked fun at the rest of the DC Characters, focus on the drawings ^__^

One mid-credit scene, important, sets up potential future. Also, was waiting for that since the beginning of the movie since I noticed HIM.

One end-credit scene, it’s funny, I enjoyed it : ).

Captain Marvel (2019)

March 8, 2019 – So. Captain Marvel. Omg. I loved it!! XD the 90’s stuff, awesome, the SHIELD stuff, loved it, references to other MCU, hehehehe, the actual movie and characters in this movie, just wonderful XD. Carol Danvers is a great character. I love the stages we see her at throughout her life. The character development is well done. They were right, Fury and Carol as pals was just fun as hell XD. Goose (though I still think they should have kept the name as Chewie). And the slight changes to her origin and basic story were manageable. The way things turned out was a bit surprising but pretty decent. Can’t wait to see it again through this weekend!!

There is one thing I did not see coming at all. That was cool XD and I guess explains things. Though I mean that’s a lot of years to be working on it! They had it all that time and didn’t make progress? Alright lol.

OH and there is a Stan Lee Cameo in the movie of course and it’s obvious. It’s funny because he’s credited as Stan Lee playing Stan Lee. BUT. There is another tribute to Stan Lee that you’ll notice and it is the best tribute there could be for him. And I wouldn’t mind it happening with the other MCU movies this year.

There is a mid-credit scene and it is everything you want and more. EVERYTHING.

The end-credit scene is just for fun. So stay if you want. Marvel Studios tends to do this now where the important ones are first and the non-important fun one is at the end.

Glass (2019)

January 17, 2019 – Glass. Wow. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Both expected things and unexpected things happened. It brought together the other two films perfectly. The ending though. I WANT MORE. There is so much potential! And the comic book-ness of it all was nicely done ^^

No mod or post credit scene. But like I said, potential?

Aquaman

December 20, 2018 – Aquaman. I enjoyed it! The battles were epic, though there were some awesome moments that I wish hadn’t been in the trailers so they could be even more epic in the movie. Definitely one specific one. But still cool XD, his journey was nice to see. Mera was awesome, of course XD. Ocean Master and Black Manta were great adversaries. One surprise was pretty cool, I wasn’t 100% surprised, but I was surprised enough. The big battle in the third act was crazy! It reminded me of LOTR. The final fight was pretty cool.

So, it wasn’t as definitely amazing as Wonder Woman was to me after the first viewing, but it was definitely a good time. I’ll be interested to see what a sequel would be like if we get that (we will be).

And there is a mid-credit scene and no end-credit scene.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse (2018)

December 14, 2018 – Spider-man: Into The Spider-verse. So. Damn. Good. I enjoyed the story. The animation was AMAZING. Even better than I thought it would be. Oh, and I saw it in 3D, so it was extra cool. The story was it’s own thing and that was great. Each Spider was brilliant, and if you enjoy one of them, I think they do each one justice. Miles’ journey is well done too. Both sides of his ethnicity were shown and I liked that. He had some tough moments and once he figures things out, it is spectacular, pun obviously intended. Oh and Aunt May was brilliant XD.

The Stan Lee cameo was lovely. And the words he said, unthinkably sad considering he’s gone, but also wonderful to hear. His passing was also acknowledged officially in the mid-credits.

I’m so ready for a sequel (glad we got a name and date now). FYI, the end-credit scene? Watch it. Literally had some people behind me mention someone who they wished was in the movie and boom, there that character was, with a wee twist that led to the funny XD

Go watch the movie!! XD (It’s 3.75 years later and I still suggest you watch it again!)

Wreck-it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)

November 21, 2018 – Alrighty, Wreck-it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet. Such a fun movie! I enjoyed it so much! A little bit of the first movie stuff and then just sooooo much! The cameos and the references were all over the place, as would be expected. And quite a cast. I knew the Disney princesses voices were all (or close to) the original voices, so all that stuff was great. And the music during the last scene with all of them was brilliantly put together. And of course it was heartfelt and lovely. Whenever I see it again, I’ll have to look out for more references.

Technically an end-credit scene. But not necessary. Good for a laugh if you understand the reference.

Yup ^__^
