Apparently, I decided to just pick up these two? I initially said that I was only picking up this Spider-Gwen issue because it was the last part of this Miles crossover, though that doesn’t explain why I also got AC 976 only. It’s possible that there just wasn’t anything else I was subscribed to that was in that week. This probably never happened again XD
Ah yes, Superman Reborn had started. That explained how Jon Kent came to be and how it related to Pre-Flashpoint versions of Clark ad Lois. Oh and I forgot that this was also the time when Lex was trying to be a Superman, similar to what Doctor Doom was doing when being Infamous Iron Man.
Since these are from so long ago, I won’t be able to remember why I had to skip weeks mostly. This was three weeks worth of issues. I remember being very excited for America Chavez’s first comic. Loved that run and the one that followed it. She’s a fantastic character and I always enjoy when she gets a book or guests in other titles.
Mostly just continuing stories but I remember I was excited for Kingpin #1. It was a short series, but it was pretty cool. And of course, by the end of 2017, Fisk became mayor of NYC and has been mayor since then. That’s all coming to a head during the current event Devil’s Reign.
Whenever Gwenpool shows up, you know it’s going to be a good time XD. She’s also a favorite character of mine. The 4th wall breaking of hers is akin to Deadpool and She-Hulk (and more recently, Harley Quinn), but for her, she’s from an earth similar to the real world where she’s a comic book fan and knows everything about the Marvel universe. So, she causes all kinds of chaos in her comics or when she guests sine she knows everyone’s secret identities and such. And there’s Moon Girl guesting in the Wasp comic. Nadia’s creation of the Genius In action Research Labs (G.I.R.L.) was a great way to bring in other genius female characters. One thing I also enjoy about Nadia’s titles is that they have little science fact annotations of certain machines or processes so people who read her comics can actually learn real science. Also, this was when he first issue of Darth Maul debuted! It was a miniseries, but it was still great.
Another MCU Guidebook, this one for Captain America: Civil War, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur meet Riri for he first time and that Totally Awesome Hulk issues has the beginnings of The Protectors and then later the new iteration of The Agents of Atlas. Both these groups are teams of Asian heroes from around the world. They are a great team (once they get used to working as a team). Oh and let’s not forget the return of Dormammu!
I love that three cosmic beings of Marvel shared a cover here (the center of the top row). Plus the art just looks great! Again, a GREAT STORY in The Ultimates and The Ultimates^2. XD Oh wow, I forgot about Monsters Unleashed!, that was so much all over the place, Kaiju everywhere!!! It was a fun little event that brought us Kid Kaiju. And Captain Marvel was having a rough time after everything that happened during Civil War II and how it ended.
As I mentioned in my last post I had decided to start picking up Ms. Marvel issues, so, naturally, I ordered all the ones I didn’t have online including her first appearance in that Captain Marvel comic on the second row on the left. I also got the action figure variant of the 2015 issue 1 (the one in the fourth row above Ms. Marvel 9) in the top row in the center, and I guess I also decided to add those two issues up top of Omega Red’s first appearances since they most likely arrived on the same day. I was so happy to have all these Ms. Marvel issues : ) And later on there will be another post like this for when G. Willow Wilson’s final issue with many more Ms. Marvel comics and other merch.
The short-lived Vixen Rebirth title, Richard Rider Nova returned (after being presumed dead after the events of Annihilation) to team up with the current Nova (Sam), Squirrel Girl’s 25th Anniversary issue, the new Thor was taking off even though the mystery of who she was was still in question, and Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen (Ghost-Spider in the future) were hitting it off, this was a crossover between their books. Oh, and this was the time that I started picking up the Ms. Marvel issues as well as the volumes.
