Completed Variant Sets 19 — September 16, 2025

So this will be a little different. Instead of starting with connecting covers I’m doing these two sets. The first set was from last time where I thought I had all the covers but didn’t till after I took the photos. Then this time i took new photos after I got the missing issue in the mail. The next post will be the connecting cover sets.

It’s nice to have the Battle of Jakku set completed! I still have a long way to go to get to read this bunch, but that’s just how it is.

These all look so great together! I’m excited to get to this story because the only things I’ve known about the Battle of Jakku have been from watching the Sequel trilogy, me reading the Aftermath trilogy, Fallen Stars, some mentions in other comics, and some stuff in video games. Seeing this battle from the main Star Wars trio’s POV is something I’ve been waiting years for. And of course, Phil Noto, Taurin Clarke and E.M. Gist all did amazing jobs on all three sets of these covers respectively!!!

This set I’ve had completed since March, but since I hadn’t gotten to these boxes yet, I had them sorted separately because I wanted them to stay flat. Peach Momoko did a kimono set with various character dressed in them.

They all look so amazing! Of course, I love the Kamala one, but they all amaze me whenever I look at them. Peach has a way of differentiating styles she draws and seeing some of them next to each other is intriguing. I love all her styles, the character ones and the background ones.

Big Sorting Project Part 4 (caught up!) (September 2-13, 2025 (10 days in that time))

I’m finally caught up to present day regarding sorting variants!!! It only took 6 months, haha. I had intended to finish this in August, but as I mentioned in the Part 3 post, I didn’t have the small boxes. I ordered 15 and that actually wasn’t enough, so the week after I started this, I was waiting on another 35 boxes. They all arrived in perfect timing and I got it all done.

This is from when I started on September 2nd.

I went from 71 boxes last time to end on 99 boxes this time!

September 10, 2025

I turned 35 the day before these issues dropped!

This run of Birds of Prey got to its 25th issue. The same for Batman & Robin. Aquaman returned to the Justice League. We got a new title and I think new characters with C.O.R.T.: Children of the Round Table. And a bittersweet issue next to that is the brand new Red Hood issue 1 that was supposed to be his first in-canon solo book, but there was drama with the writer that day, so the book was cancelled literally the day it came out. Blue Falcon and Dynomutt got a title! Punisher got a new Red Band series. This is the penultimate issue of Miles’ adventure in the new Ultimate universe. And this is the Antepenultimate main series issue of Doom’s event. We got a new Edge of Venomverse issue. The next Imperial one-shot dropped. We got a new Iron Fist miniseries. And we got an Age of Apocalypse one-shot, probably tying into the Age of Revelation event.

See the bottom of the page for what my next post will be about!

Love a legacy cover. This Aquaman main cover i like the art and also the orange. I’m always happy to see a Jessica Cruz cover! And I like how Todd Nauck drew Fire and Ice.

The next Supergirl covers! So much orange!

A very colorful cover from Nicoletta Baldari.

The variants I got of this issue. I guess I forgot to take the photo of the blank variant alone. The foil cover looks great! I liked the covers of the other issues they had in the Previews, but I guess we’ll never see those.

Hetrick’s Demona, a blank variant for Blue Falcon, a collage from Mr. Garcin and an incentive cover that I hadn’t noticed had Maystorm on it.

The next Jedi Knights variants.

The next Ellie covers.

A great art of all those Spiders and Symbiotes!

So many fantastic covers for this issue! The first one I got because I have action figures of AOA Sabretooth and Wildchild from when I was a kid. Before I knew what AOA was. I always enjoy seeing Apocalypse on covers! That Momoko cover is great! And I love that we got another Disney Animation design from Brooks, though it’s not part of the set (you’ll see in one of the posts tomorrow) I guess, so perhaps that means I’ll see more of them. and that Taurin Clarke cover is just gorgeous.

A small poster for the C.O.R.T. kids.

I’m assuming a promo for an upcoming kids book.

I guess I’m getting fewer of the Marvel folded posters because they’re being put up at the store.

Next (I’ll post tomorrow I think) will be the final big Complete Collections posts from my catch-up!!!!!!!!

September 3, 2025

Another week with A LOT of issues.

Batman got its first number 1 since Rebirth and only its 4th ever Number 1! I learned that at the store, I guess I just didn’t think about it back when Rebirth started since I was just starting to get back into comics around then. Other than the original, and the two aforementioned ones, New 52 also got a Batman #1. It’s Ragnarok in the JSA. Cheetah and Cheshire continue their caper. We got a new Superman title continuing storylines from the Future State event set in the future. Sabrina the Teenage Witch got a new run. Jeff the Landshark got another issue. The Marvel Zombies dropped by in Avengers (not sure if it’s the original ones or other ones as promotion for the upcoming animated microseries). Han Chewie and Lando got a new series that tells us about their search for the Falcon before the Sequel trilogy. Legacy of Vader introduced us to a new Knight of Ren. Everyone seems to be going through a lot in all the X-titles. We got the next Imperial tie-in. Doctor Strange, while not having a current run, got a 450th one-shot issue. I was very disappointed by the fact that there were barely any variants for this huge milestone, only four (2 normal, 2 incentive). Even with no current run, this issue should have had at least 10 variants. For example, Amazing Spider-Man 975 got 9 normal variants and 3 incentive variants. We actually have a Spider-Man TAS continuation via a new comic run!! Now, it’s not nice that the showrunner of that amazing series isn’t doing the writing for this title, and there’s still no word on if it’ll get the same kind of treatment as X-Men ’97 got, but it’s nice to finally have something. FYI, as soon as X-Men ’97 dropped, he made it known that he’d love to return for a revival. So, we’ll see how this comic does. And the next DSLTRY issue dropped.

These are the variants that I got, there were SO many. The blind bag was of course a swing of a pickaxe in the dark and I didn’t strike gold, but the cover I got is still great.

The first is by Gabriele Dell’Otto, I liked the blue being accentuated and the bats. The new logo is cool. And I was happy to see an Artgerm cover and a wraparound at that! And the cover I got in the bag was the foil variant of the Jim Lee cover.

Fantastic covers with all very different tones! I really liked Rahzzah’s cover with the sun behind Clark.

I think this is the first time in a while that the store didn’t have enough to get the 1:25 incentive cover. So, I’ll have to find that somewhere else.

The main cover of course, and the red and black cover is by Nogi San

A fun Momoko cover and one of the anniversary sets with that iconic moment from Revenge of the Sith.

Alex Ross’s Timeless makes its return this year in a part two of the bunch back in Spring. it’ll be 16 covers. And I love this Gonzales cover!

Another issue where there were many variants. The first here is the main cover. The second is the first of the upcoming Stitch variants. And the third one is a fantastic origin themed one by Lee Bermejo.

I love the details and shading, as usual for his covers.

So many variants for this too, understandably so. JTC of course started a new set of action figure variants. A blank for the future. An animation variant, and the fourth one I got because Venom looked exactly like he did in the cartoon.

August 27, 2025

One of those rare (and yet also slowly increasing) occasions when I can’t fit everything on the bed and had to take another photo! This was a lot of comics.

The last issue of the Jason Todd 3-part story dropped. We got a new Elseworld Batman title. This is the final Peacemaker issue for this run. Harley is teaching? Flash is still dealing with Eclipso. This upcoming Darksied event is ramping up. The Justice League has to save Doomsday! Shredder (of TMNT) got a new run. It’s a sequel to the previous run from a few years ago I think. X-Men got a one-shot. A new character debuts in Miles’ book. I’m intrigued by Phoenix. There is some big powerful tech item popping up in Avengers. Things don’t look great for Bruce in this Hulk issue. We got a Doom one-shot still set during this Doom event but seemingly on its own. We got two one-shots in this Imperial event. Thor got a new run as he’s apparently mortal again. The Bring on the Bad Guys even staring Mephisto ended with this Dormemmu issue and then the Mephisto issue. And we got a large tribute comic celebrating Jack Kirby!

Such a bright colorful cover for Green Lantern! And I liked the brick silhouette on the Green Arrow cover.

Aja gave a fun variant and Lotay made a fantastic Lois cover. And I like the third one, very super hero. Both that last one and the Green Arrow one above are from an Artist Spotlight set on Bruno Redondo.

I forgot that Doomsday was on this main cover, so I almost forgot to get another copy. Szerdy doing great with Diana and Kara. And this Rachta Lin cover is magical (pun intended).

Shredder!!! All of these covers are awesome! there were a few others I didn’t get.

The main (and foil) cover is great coming out at you on through the cover. the third one is by Kael Ngu! That’s nice to see. And of course I got a blank variant.

The main by Gurihiru of course and the second one is the next by Tokitokoro. The third is a Vecchio cover.

I just liked how Aphra and Han looked in this cover. It’s been a while since I’d gotten a Spider-verse kind of cover. And hello there Galactus.

This is the debut of a new character, so I got the design variant and the gorgeous Momoko variant.

The next amazing bunch from this title.

The first one is by Fan Yang, gorgeous indeed! The second is for the comic reading theme of course. And the one by Malavia is a gem.

Wanda looks great in this Vecchio cover! And Andolfo did a great job with this Runaways cover.

The covers I got for this issue 1.

Alex Ross continuing with the main cover. We got a Quesada variant! This foil cover looks amazing by Patrick Gleason!!

Bermejo made Dormammu look fantastic in the main cover! And Javier Pina made Dormammu look massive in his cover! I even have a funko to match it!

MEPHISTO! So many covers!! These are all the non-incentive covers. The main of course is by Bermejo. The others are Miguel Mercado, Chris Campana, Nimit Malavia, Ken Lashley, and Todd Nauck, respectively. Mephisto looks amazing in all these covers and Sister Sorrow looks fantastic on the Malavia cover.

August 20, 2025

Hello Absolute Bane! The Doom Patrol drop by the Titans. Detective Comics got to its 1100th issue! A new hero shows up in Blüdhaven. Clarke becomes a Man-Bat? We got a new title called Justice League Red! And Red Canary being on the team made this an instant subscription for me. We got the next issue of Exquisite Corpses. Spidey seems to be having a violent nature poking through. The next issue of the event Imperial dropped. The Thing got a one-shot that is comprised of all splash-pages! I’m very excited to read that! Ghost-Spider got a new run, as did Black Cat (written by G. Willow Wilson!)!!

I love all the details on the main cover for this issue. All the characters in the background are great to see. And I love this variant with Batman’s silhouette and the bats.

Love this Spears cover! I like that the coloring is so different because of the lighting but still looks great.

Love all these covers!

That Deadman cover by Christian Ward is so great! And I like that the foil variant had the red background compared to the white background on the main cover version.

Adam Gorham did a great job on this cover of the Fox Mask Killer! And it’s always nice to see a David Mack cover. And this Spidey cover is fun being a Daily Bugle design. Y’all know my love of Sabretooth on that Wolverine cover. And I love this Psylocke cover of her in white.

I love everything being all chaotic in this first variant. I can’t wait to get to this event! And it’s nice to see Richard on a cover.

The main cover and the two variants I got.

Another Galloway variant. And a great Storm variant by Momoko!

It’s the main cover, very dynamic.

Happy for a Hughes cover for the main. And I love the Momoko variant.

The next action figure cover and the next Marvelized Godzilla cover. This one being Ghost Rider themed.

Such a great Momoko cover!

Completed Variant Sets 18 — August 18, 2025

These are all new variant sets that I had the whole set of during this sorting.

These are The Thing! themed by various artists. Again, I’ll name them in the caption of each photo.

This was a fun and creative set! I liked that it wasn’t Ben Grimm being different heroes, but each hero having his Thing powers.

And here are David Nakayama’s Artist Spotlight covers! They’re amazing!!

Finally seeing them all together in-person is wonderful!

These funtastic wraparound covers are by the wonderful Humberto Ramos! Who, I now can say that I’ve met! See my second SDCC post from the last day.

Love how these look next to each other! I’d love to see more covers with the other symbiotes!

These are by n artist whom I followed online first and then saw art of as he got noticed. Jake Bartok did his own Star Wars art online for years and at some point he was noticed and hired to do these covers as-well-as some official High Republic concept art.

It’s great to see his worn on actual comics!

Another cool set by local-to-DC Kenya Danino!! I love seeing her pop up on comics too! She’s also an artist I followed online first. Her first set was Gargoyles: Dark Ages.

I like how they’re all so different.

Last but not least for this set of posts, Mirka Andolfo’s set of Madame Webb variants featuring both Madame Webs!

I have to say, I love these covers more than the movie, haha. For those many thoughts, see my movie post for that movie. I felt like ending on a fun note and arranging these in a vague spider shape.

It’s been a crazy two weeks dealing with all the delays from the small flood. I’m glad to have actually finished this!! I would have already started sorting the last 6 boxes (24 weeks) of variants, but as I said in the first post, I don’t have any more of those small boxes yet. I did order some, so hopefully they arrive in good time and aren’t damaged or something. I hope to have finally caught up with complete variant cover posts within the month. Fingers crossed!

Completed Variant Sets 17 — August 21, 2025

The added covers of this post were from sets that I had one or two covers left to add from after June’s sorting. So they were among the first to be completed this time.

Alex Ross! He did an amazing job on this run of Doctor Strange. Every cover was spectacular!

For this set last time, I was just missing another copy of the first issue. 18 covers that looked like paintings. They look amazing side-by-side!

For this set last time, I was just missing a copy of the first issue’s variant. These are a book cover themed set by Declan Shalvey!

They look wonderful together!

These Negative Space variants are by Alessandro Ranaldi! These were a fun throwback!

I do love how they look together, though I would have liked perhaps Hades and also Pain & Panic to have the last two covers respectively. But perhaps if we get another run of this there will be more of these variants.

These are the amazing Nicola Scott and Annette Kwok’s costume themed variants!! I love how much detail is in all the costumes throughout the years.

These remind me of Dauterman’s costume covers. You know how I love those too! I certainly should have brought all these to the other room for more light, but it was darker outside by the time I took these photos.
