These are the FCBD issues I got. There were a bunch more than I didn’t get. It was a huge bunch this year.
And these are books I picked up just because it’s always right to buy something on FCBDay. The original Marvel Zombies covers book is something I don’t think I knew existed, so it was nice to get. And this Shazam and Superman volume includes some panels that have been shared around the internet to represent the kindness and fury that Clark has when he finds out that Shazam is Billy. It’s a comic I’ve always wanted to read. And the fangs are to promote Blood Hunt.
We got a Spring Break special from DC. And DC dropped their annuals. And we got the House of Brainiac special from Superman. Space Ghost got a new run. Whisper Queen is the comic I mentioned in the last post. Wade and Logan got a new title. Marvel’s next event, Blood Hunt has begun! And this is the penultimate issue of this era of X-Men. We also got a special celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And also SWI with two variants.
This Dan Mora cover of Harley is just so good. I love his use of shadows, shading and depth. This Whisper Queen variant is just gorgeous. Another window shades cover, this time of Wade and Logan. Peach Momoko did an amazing job with Jessica Drew. Nakayama making a black suit variant of Hulk, one which I don’t think I’ve seen. A Marvel stormbreaker, Martin Coccolo doing a great job with this Ghost Rider cover. Ok. So. I decided to post the Disney What If variants because I realized that they were still doing them after Disney’s 100th Anniversary and that I could just post them. Of course, I realized this 5 months into 2024, but eh. And finally, that Master and Apprentice cover has Plo-Koon and his apprentice, and I don’t actually know who that is, so I’m excited to get to it (whenever that actually happens).
Artgerm making Tigra look fierce as ever. And Momoko made Vision look amazing.
Love the main cover for this issue. It’s just a great representation of the Krakoan era. Here’s another of the Hildebrandt covers, this one being Kitty Pryde. And the Dauterman cover showing the second X-men team voted on during this era.
And last, but not least, these fantastic covers. The main cover and the B cover are from the Ahsoka series of course. And the last one is a Darth Maul cover that I assume is celebrating the 25th Anniversary.
I’m posting a bit later again, whoops! I forgot to take a photo of these all in one photo, haha.
The White Trees: A Blacksand Tale is a miniseries that is from a while ago, the only reason I got it is because a sequel miniseries came out last week and my store also had this. The title looked cool. Two DWM from last year. And a late variant for Blasfamous 2.
And these are four variants and two main covers. The two Catwoman ones are ones that I wasn’t sure I could get. The Birds of Prey one is one of the Sweater Weather covers. And that Darth Maul variant is just great.
I had forgotten about the Birds of Prey cover, it’s such a great cover. I think it’s been a while since I’ve gotten a Villalobos cover. This is just the next Alex Ross cover for Doctor Strange. And look at that Ghost Rider cover! And of course that Darth Maul cover. Sheev’s eyes look great!
Loving these covers! I replied to a tweet that some DSTRLY artists posted about making an art book for all these wraparound covers and one of them liked and replied to it, so if they hadn’t planned that before my tweet, I’m totally taking credit if one comes out, haha. But yeah, they are great landscape designs.
These are the two double-sided posters that came with the DWM special issue. Not quite sure why they put Blink and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, but it’s cool.
Malcolm Merlyn pops up to cause Oliver grief. Crush visits Power Girl. Darkest Hour continues for the Rangers. They gave us a Darth Maul miniseries in the Black, White & Black frame. Aurra Sing is out for Jango. I think this is the final Blade issue of this run, but since there’s a vampire event coming, I guess he’ll be around those issues a lot. The Fall of X continues. This is the penultimate G.O.D.S. issue. Blasfamous got its second issue. And DSTLRY gave us a new title, Spectregraph.
Jenny Frison just making another top tier cover.
I had to get this Montez cover. All my love to JDF. And of course another creepy Barends cover.
This is the main cover, it’s great! I have a couple variants to wait for.
Jubilee is just such a great character for covers. Her colors are just fantastic (Also, X-Men’97 is just amazing). And hello there Dazzler by the wonderful David Nakayama. I also got the virgin variant of this elsewhere.
This Brooks cover is just so cool. I thought it was a connecting cover, but I guess not. And here’s the next Hildebrandt cover.
Eternity. Infinity. The Living Tribunal. The In-Betweener. Give me all the abstract cosmic entities.
I do enjoy DSTLRY making all the covers (variants included) wraparound covers. I would just enjoy a future art book with all the images of all their books at some point. Mirka Andolfo making fantastic covers as usual. Christian Ward makes such fantastic covers. And Jenny Frison again giving us a gorgeous cover.
This Catwoman issue is a few away from the end of this arc. This Nightwing issue is the 300th issue!! Though I am surprised it wasn’t an issue with a soft back like some of the other 00th issues for DC. ALways happy to see a Trigon story in Titans, and I know there’s a Raven story coming soon, so I assume this is connected. House of Brainiac continues. Gargoyles Quest finally is here, it’s been delayed for a while. We got a new High Republic miniseries. What If?… continues, though I didn’t know it was a sequential story, I thought it was just one-shots. Natasha and Clint seem to be having a tense time. We got a Giant-size Hulk issue. Roxxon made a Thor and we get a miniseries about it. And the Fall of X continues.
I mean look at that Clerks cover. Nothing else needs to be said. And I’m happy to see another windowshades cover (even though it baffles me that the artist alternates at random seemingly)!
It’s another design variant! And Look at this Jubilee cover! Glorious. And It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a Gist cover. He made Emma Frost look so regal.
Rahzahh just knows how to create magic. And It’s been a very long time since I’ve picked up a Tedesco cover. There are other issues that he’s doing for WW, but I like this one the best.
I did like all the covers for this 300th issue, though I did think there would be many more covers available than there were. That was a little bit disappointing (and the aforementioned binding comment). Though, having said that, there have been a couple amazing legacy covers during this run, so that’s been nice. I think I like the Dan Mora cover in the center the best.
Wow, I totally forgot to post till now! I guess since I was traveling last weekend it slipped my mind.
Everything here is a late variant other than the Carnage issues which are just here because of needed two for the event. Oh, and also another copy of Ultimate X-Men 2.
Always happy to see The Living Tribunal on a cover. And it’s a new version of him. There’s that great Alex Ross cover of Enchantress. and I think it’s been a while since I’ve had a Maleev cover, I really liked this Magneto cover.
Evidently something big happens in Outsiders 6, there was an article about it! I’m still happy for Nicole Maines with this Dreamer stuff. Brainiac is back and coming for us all in this event House of Brainiac starting with this Action Comics and Green Lantern. Hercules is the next Disney comic to hit the shelves. Star-Spider looks cool! The next issue in the X-Men ’97 prequel comics dropped. This Ms. Marvel miniseries is half-way done. I think this is the last issue of the Resurrection of Magneto. Ultimate X-Men 2 dropped with the first issue of the run with Mei (Maystorm), the character design of which I really love. I didn’t post images of the covers yet since my store actually had almost all the covers, so I’ll buy the last (retailer-exclusive) variant next month and take the photos then. I was just so surprised!
Another cover with Avery. Another with Dreamer. Great characters!
It’s always nice to see The Batman-Who-Laughs on a cover again. Especially in this cover in that classic Batman image. And of course Flatline hosting another cover.
My favorite colors is orange.
Thrawn being front and center I’m on a cover like this is pretty great. And the design of the cover itself is also fantastic. And of course the moment I saw Ahsoka on a variant cover for this, I ordered it.
This, like the Ahsoka and Sabine cover is part of the Master’s and Apprentices cover set. I’m not getting them all, but you’ll see some of them. Though also, Baylan and Shin are pretty awesome characters.
It’s funny how similarly life-like Ross and Hildebrandt’s (respectively) art are.
I certainly feel like this is paying homage to something specific, but I’m not sure. But either way, it looks great!
Love these covers! Thank David Mack Jean cover is just gorgeous!
This specific version of Sabretooth has always been and will likely always be, my favorite design of Victor. That first X-Men TAS design was the first I saw of the character. I’m not quite sure why I like this design so much, but I’ve not seen another design that I like more. So these were a must.
This first cover is paying homage to classic Marvel cover and the second is the next Momoko cover for this run of Ms. Marvel. Also, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that they put the original cover the cover is paying homage to on the back of the issue. I really hope that becomes a mainstay in homage variants in the future. I know a lot about comics, but I’m not at the level that I know all famous covers when seeing an homage cover and know which it’s referring to. This at least helps. Though I guess I was so excited about the cover that I put it in the wrong week pile, whoops! It’s another variant of X-Men 33 from the previous week.
This is the end of this mini arc in Poison Ivy. Whereas a new arc seems to be starting in Shazam. This Avengers issue is the first of two to crossover into the Fall of X. This is the antepenultimate Krakoan era X-Men issue. Both Capt and Thor’s issues look intriguing. Green Goblin got a special issue. The mini symbiote event continues. And Deadpool started a new run!
This is just the second printing of this issue. And of course Kamala being the cover means any reprints I must have!
I forgot to take photos of these properly so the order is a bit weird. The main cover is here because Kamala is on it. The Storm trading card cover by Dauterman is here because that design for Storm has been great in the titles and he’s a great artist. And that Emma Frost one is one of the Hildebrandt covers which will have their own post when I have them all.
Had to have this first variant by the creator himself, Rob Liefeld, especially since he has said he would be retiring from drawing Wade soon. The foil cover is just cool. And I love these Saturday morning cartoon variants!
DWM’s I picked up from my box. And some variants that were late or that I decided to get later. And the Ms. Marvel volume from Iman’s run.
As you know, I always enjoy design variants. I love the THR cover with the eye there. I just really liked that Iron Man cover. And this is one of the other variants for Visions, though, I still have some to find. and of course the next Nakayama cover for Catwoman.
Intrigued by the Green Arrow cover! IYKYK. Medieval themed Power Girl. This was the final issue of Amazons Attack. A new HRA miniseries. Darkest Hour continues in Power Rangers. An interesting Image Comics title started, Under York. Matt and Logan seemingly battling. Rise of the Powers of X has quite the cover. Sabretooth War rages. This run of X-Force hits its final issue at 50. This is the antepenultimate issue of G.O.D.S. MJ and Felicia got a team-up title with Jackpot & Black Cat. And we got the X-Men ’97 prequel comic that takes place between the original X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97 revival. Miles Morales reached its 300th issue!
Seeing Red Canary on covers is always a plus. As such, this cover is here. Omega got a character cover that looks great. Thank you Stephanie Hans.
Lorna on a cover is fantastic. This connecting cover for RotPoX and FotPoX will be great.
I love the colors of this and the joy on Lorna’s face.
As you know, I love covers that are other things. This magazine cover is great! And this Edge of the Spider-verse homage cover is also fantastic.
Such great variants for G.O.D.S.
Every time I see this headshot cover, literally every time, I think it’s Electra even though I know it’s Sersi. I hadn’t gotten all these covers of the new versions of the cosmic entities, but I had to once I realized what they were doing. And that last cover is just amazing, but mainly I got it because of the Living Tribunal on the right.
This Yoon cover is just great to show of MJ’s costume. And I love these Saturday Morning covers by Galloway.
So many great covers for this X-Men ’97 run. Look at these! Harvey and Dauterman are just so talented.
Whenever I see a Mr. Garcin cover, I try to get it. He just makes such great collages for these covers. And I had to get the logo cover for this commemorative issue.
It’s not often that there are polybag covers, but for NSFW covers it’s a must. Certainly is a well-done cover.
