The issue itself from inside the sleeve. A reprint of the actual Star Beast story that inspired one of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials.
Double sided poster. Though I don’t really understand why they divided it up like this. That’s one poster with 4 images instead of two sheets of paper with two images on each side. I get that it’s saving paper, but eh, I’m not a fan of doing posters like this. But they’re great choices for posters ^__^
Frankentitan? Alrighty then! The Catwoman arc looks fun. I can’t wait to get to this Nightwing issue since it’s a new six-issue arc and first after the big issue last time. Here’s Lobo getting in Clark’s face again during this event. I’m curious about this Thor issue, family asking for help from Loki. Fall of X continues. Blood Hunt’s second issue. Having finished X-Men 97, I can’t wait to get to this miniseries. ASM got to this run’s 50th issue, they made it a huge $9.99 issue. Kamala drops into this The Spectacular Spider-men series. And Gwen has a new run where she’s now stuck in the main 616 universe.
I’m so happy to see Šejić doing a Wonder Woman cover again! And this Green Lantern cover is great!
The next Nakayama cover of course, love it. And this is the first of a duo (I think) of covers. It’s such a fun design.
This is the last of this miniseries, so they’ll be in the completed covers post some time after the next one I do.
The next Hildebrandt cover and look at this fun 97 cover! Such a great cover.
I forgot to separate these but eh. I like this negative space Spidey with the symbiote costume.
Jenny Frison just does such elegant covers, her art is just elegant. I always love seeing her covers. And here’s another blank variant of course.
This is here of course because of Kamala, duh. I was hoping that this issue would have had a variant with Kamala on it, but nope, oh well. But glad to see her in this. Though Miles was taken the last time I was reading, so, perhaps things have changed.
Outsiders seems like a stressful arc. Dreamer’s adventure continues in Dream Team. House of Brainiac continues. Godzilla got a 70th Anniversary special. Carnage looks trippy, as usual. Doctor Doom got a special, and I’m intrigued by it because I saw some pages that had cosmic entities on them. And as you know, I love those things haha. Ultimate X-Men continues. DSTRLY dropped White Boat, the plot of which intrigues me. And Ms. Marvel continues.
I still haven’t gotten to anything from DSTLRY, but I’m excited to get to all of them. This plot seems mysterious. And of course I love the wraparound cover.
Another Flatline cover! Just such a fantastic character design. Though I may have a thing for white haired, grey skinned female characters, haha. I blame a few shows in the past for this. Always happy to get more Dreamer covers. And look at that Supergirl cover! It’s so good! And of course that Carnage variant with Ghost Rider looks great!
I don’t have many Katana covers, but I really like this one. Not just for it being an AAPI Heritage Month cover. She just has such a great minimalist design. And I like this cassette cover! Y’all know I enjoy covers that look like other media.
Another Hildebrandt cover with Doom himself. And what a great Galactus cover!
I’m always so happy to get more Kamala runs for the story and the character, but I also get excited about the covers. Such great covers! So cool to see the black suit!
So, like last issue, I got all the possible issues other than the second printings of the main issue. Which I also ordered, so I will have that in a complete collection post. And I have finished some collections for a post and I will get to them soon. I still have 9 other boxes to get through, haha. But it was nice to get through a full box of variants sorted into their places. That was a good couple days of getting through that.
Just late variants. Happy to get these from the last pile.
Love the Space Ghost cover! And as always, the Galloway Saturday morning covers are fun. And I’m happy to get more blank variants for whenever I’m able to afford getting commissioned covers at cons. I just have to finalize what I want to do with them. I have a couple ideas for commissions.
These are just bookmarks for DC’s upcoming Elseworld stories. Which are stories that are out of continuity from the main DC comics universe. They were free, so why not? Haha. I probably won’t get any of these, but that Allwinter image looks like Deathstroke, so I may have to if he’s in that. And I started the first issues of the Dark Knights of Steel back when that universe started, so we’ll see.
G. Willow Wilson tweeted that this issue of Poison Ivy was big, so I’ll be excited whenever I get to it. We got a Giant-Size X-Men issue. I’m intrigued by this Vader issue. I’m curious about the Captain Marvel issue and who that is on it. Blood Hunt continues. And the Fall of X continues too. This Wolverine issue is the penultimate of his mini event, also this run.
Frank Cho and Sabine Rich did a fantastic job n this Poison Ivy variant. And David Nakayama knocked it out of the park with this cover of the Suicide Squad. As I mentioned above, I’m curious about the character on this Captain Marvel cover, and I like the cosmic design of it. The next Ross cover for Stephen. Look at that In-Hyuk Lee cover of The Phoenix! That variant actually arrived right when I was at the store.
You’ll notice that I have been getting a few of these Black Costume variants, I won’t get them all, only the ones that catch my eye. They are to celebrate 40 years since the Symbiote costume showed up on Spider-Man.
This is just so well-drawn and colored! In-Hyuk Lee again being amazing. I would normally post covers from the same artist together, but I totally forgot.
This is a fun cover as it’s another point of view of a classic Avengers cover from 1998, Avengers 1 drawn by the sorely missed George Perez. This tribute is drawn by Ron Lim and colored by Israel Silva.
All these covers are fantastic! I had to get them all!
Nakayama bringing life to this black costume for Logan and look at this adamantium suit design!!
I had put this in my box on May 4 to get on this day. I love these Funko’s that have the image of the comics in the background. Had to get this one especially since I met Chris Claremont last year and of course because of Gambit-related things that happened this year.
These are the FCBD issues I got. There were a bunch more than I didn’t get. It was a huge bunch this year.
And these are books I picked up just because it’s always right to buy something on FCBDay. The original Marvel Zombies covers book is something I don’t think I knew existed, so it was nice to get. And this Shazam and Superman volume includes some panels that have been shared around the internet to represent the kindness and fury that Clark has when he finds out that Shazam is Billy. It’s a comic I’ve always wanted to read. And the fangs are to promote Blood Hunt.
We got a Spring Break special from DC. And DC dropped their annuals. And we got the House of Brainiac special from Superman. Space Ghost got a new run. Whisper Queen is the comic I mentioned in the last post. Wade and Logan got a new title. Marvel’s next event, Blood Hunt has begun! And this is the penultimate issue of this era of X-Men. We also got a special celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And also SWI with two variants.
This Dan Mora cover of Harley is just so good. I love his use of shadows, shading and depth. This Whisper Queen variant is just gorgeous. Another window shades cover, this time of Wade and Logan. Peach Momoko did an amazing job with Jessica Drew. Nakayama making a black suit variant of Hulk, one which I don’t think I’ve seen. A Marvel stormbreaker, Martin Coccolo doing a great job with this Ghost Rider cover. Ok. So. I decided to post the Disney What If variants because I realized that they were still doing them after Disney’s 100th Anniversary and that I could just post them. Of course, I realized this 5 months into 2024, but eh. And finally, that Master and Apprentice cover has Plo-Koon and his apprentice, and I don’t actually know who that is, so I’m excited to get to it (whenever that actually happens).
Artgerm making Tigra look fierce as ever. And Momoko made Vision look amazing.
Love the main cover for this issue. It’s just a great representation of the Krakoan era. Here’s another of the Hildebrandt covers, this one being Kitty Pryde. And the Dauterman cover showing the second X-men team voted on during this era.
And last, but not least, these fantastic covers. The main cover and the B cover are from the Ahsoka series of course. And the last one is a Darth Maul cover that I assume is celebrating the 25th Anniversary.
I’m posting a bit later again, whoops! I forgot to take a photo of these all in one photo, haha.
The White Trees: A Blacksand Tale is a miniseries that is from a while ago, the only reason I got it is because a sequel miniseries came out last week and my store also had this. The title looked cool. Two DWM from last year. And a late variant for Blasfamous 2.
And these are four variants and two main covers. The two Catwoman ones are ones that I wasn’t sure I could get. The Birds of Prey one is one of the Sweater Weather covers. And that Darth Maul variant is just great.
I had forgotten about the Birds of Prey cover, it’s such a great cover. I think it’s been a while since I’ve gotten a Villalobos cover. This is just the next Alex Ross cover for Doctor Strange. And look at that Ghost Rider cover! And of course that Darth Maul cover. Sheev’s eyes look great!
Loving these covers! I replied to a tweet that some DSTRLY artists posted about making an art book for all these wraparound covers and one of them liked and replied to it, so if they hadn’t planned that before my tweet, I’m totally taking credit if one comes out, haha. But yeah, they are great landscape designs.
These are the two double-sided posters that came with the DWM special issue. Not quite sure why they put Blink and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, but it’s cool.
Malcolm Merlyn pops up to cause Oliver grief. Crush visits Power Girl. Darkest Hour continues for the Rangers. They gave us a Darth Maul miniseries in the Black, White & Black frame. Aurra Sing is out for Jango. I think this is the final Blade issue of this run, but since there’s a vampire event coming, I guess he’ll be around those issues a lot. The Fall of X continues. This is the penultimate G.O.D.S. issue. Blasfamous got its second issue. And DSTLRY gave us a new title, Spectregraph.
Jenny Frison just making another top tier cover.
I had to get this Montez cover. All my love to JDF. And of course another creepy Barends cover.
This is the main cover, it’s great! I have a couple variants to wait for.
Jubilee is just such a great character for covers. Her colors are just fantastic (Also, X-Men’97 is just amazing). And hello there Dazzler by the wonderful David Nakayama. I also got the virgin variant of this elsewhere.
This Brooks cover is just so cool. I thought it was a connecting cover, but I guess not. And here’s the next Hildebrandt cover.
Eternity. Infinity. The Living Tribunal. The In-Betweener. Give me all the abstract cosmic entities.
I do enjoy DSTLRY making all the covers (variants included) wraparound covers. I would just enjoy a future art book with all the images of all their books at some point. Mirka Andolfo making fantastic covers as usual. Christian Ward makes such fantastic covers. And Jenny Frison again giving us a gorgeous cover.
This Catwoman issue is a few away from the end of this arc. This Nightwing issue is the 300th issue!! Though I am surprised it wasn’t an issue with a soft back like some of the other 00th issues for DC. ALways happy to see a Trigon story in Titans, and I know there’s a Raven story coming soon, so I assume this is connected. House of Brainiac continues. Gargoyles Quest finally is here, it’s been delayed for a while. We got a new High Republic miniseries. What If?… continues, though I didn’t know it was a sequential story, I thought it was just one-shots. Natasha and Clint seem to be having a tense time. We got a Giant-size Hulk issue. Roxxon made a Thor and we get a miniseries about it. And the Fall of X continues.
I mean look at that Clerks cover. Nothing else needs to be said. And I’m happy to see another windowshades cover (even though it baffles me that the artist alternates at random seemingly)!
It’s another design variant! And Look at this Jubilee cover! Glorious. And It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a Gist cover. He made Emma Frost look so regal.
Rahzahh just knows how to create magic. And It’s been a very long time since I’ve picked up a Tedesco cover. There are other issues that he’s doing for WW, but I like this one the best.
I did like all the covers for this 300th issue, though I did think there would be many more covers available than there were. That was a little bit disappointing (and the aforementioned binding comment). Though, having said that, there have been a couple amazing legacy covers during this run, so that’s been nice. I think I like the Dan Mora cover in the center the best.
