Venom (2018)

October 5, 2018 – Alright. So. Venom. Not a bad movie. An alright venom movie? No Spidey connection of course. The relationship between Eddie and the symbiote is decent. I just feel like the Eddie we got didn’t seem like Eddie Brock. Maybe that’ll change at a later date (Nope). I was expecting a little bit more with the villain side of things, but Riz Ahmed was good. The action was good, the comedy was funny. It was a relatively simple story, so that was alright. Also, quick fun cameo, you’ll know which.

So, there is a mid-credit scene. It’s as expected, still alright. I’m still not sure about that casting, but we’ll see. (you’ll see when I get to Venom 2 XD)

There is an end-credit scene that is totally not related to the movie at all. Like at all. Didn’t expect it, but it was welcome. Excited for what it was. (it was a scene from Into the Spiderverse)

October 3, 2018

This was the era of Nightwing no more (Dick Grayson had been shot in the head and had a very strong case of amnesia for a while), he lived as Rick and got away from things he didn’t know (which included all of the Bat-family), Deathstroke was dealing with being in Arkham, the Witching Hour had begun in Wonder Woman and Justice League Dark, ah yes, DC did these foil covers (I can’t remember if these was a particular reason, they’ll be at the bottom), Shatterstar got a run for a bit, Tony and Janet were a thing for a while, Doctor Strange and Doctor Strange (not actually a strange or rare situation surprisingly), more from baby Thanos, Superior Octopus makes his return in a body he made this time (unlike last time when he was Superior Spider-Man and was in Peter’s body), a couple new What If…? comics, X-Men Black started and a very cool story arc of Champions started.

September 26, 2018

Titans dealing with disciples of Brother Blood, Justice League Dark has the Upside-down Man grace its cover for the first time (I mean he debuted only two issues previous, but still. He’s still around today), The first issues of the crazy cosmic journey of Justice League Odyssey (Darkseid was a main character, how could I not??), there was also the first issue of the very intense event series of Heroes in Crisis (it took a while to get done, and you had to be paying attention to follow things, but it was great), Peter having a super villain as a roommate was always a fun time XD, Sentry and his ex-sidekick had issues, more Infinity Warps, Extermination, Spidergeddon starting and the final issue of X-Men Blue. This was a packed week!

September 19, 2018

At this point I had caught up on sorted comics and caught up on reading and was actually able to read this pile when I got it!

Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic of Harley reading this comic. Ok, I’m done.

Ah yes, Mr. and Mrs. X focused on Rogue and Gambit protecting the Empress to be, that’s right, I think this is the first time we met Sleeper in Venom First Host, Life of Captain Marvel was getting tense, the Leader and who else behind the scenes of Hulk, a firebird and a hammer in Thor, we got our first Infinity Warps issues with those mashup characters of two individuals warped into one being with a history, Logan finally returned, and of course, the infamous Black Label Batman comic that gave readers our first, and probably only, look at Bruce’s genitalia. Of course, once the first printing of that issue was done, they reprinted it without that particular detail.

September 12, 2018

Strength Force Flash, Avenging Kara, Titans craziness, Kal vs Rogol, Carter and Thanagar, Squirrel Girl’s silent issue, X-Men Blue issues winding down, Kamala vs Shocker, Queen of the Skrulls in Venom, Iceman getting a new miniseries, Runaways with that gorgeous cover, the Exiles on trial via a crazy group of wayward Watchers, Infinity Wars going all out, and the FF dealing with, well, a lot of things at once.

September 5, 2018

This day’s haul and the second image is cool covers and variants from the past months. At this point I’d sorted the past 10 weeks of comics away, but was still two weeks behind.

General chaos up top, the story of the Venom symbiote’s first host, Scott and Nadia still having spacial problems, we were getting used to this new Hulk, I think that Avengers issue got us one of the first better looks into the Avengers group of the year 1,000,000 B.C., Cosmic Ghost Rider was still trying to kill Thanos in the past, If I’m remembering correctly, this Silver Surfer run could have been where he goes into the past, but I’m not sure, we got the first issue of the Asgardians of he Galaxy, the Death of the Inhumans event was still hitting hard, and Unnatural had started.

Power Rangers comics of this era always have amazing variant covers, I just can’t get them all because it would e way too much to get all the covers each time. But they are all extremely well done. And anything with Darkseid on the cover is almost an instant buy for me XD.

August 22, 2018

An almost forgotten photo this time, I posted it a week later. Flash dealing with The Strength Force, ah yes, Matt Murdock’s twin “brother” XD, Deadpool interrupting Mr. and Mrs. X, Venom’s bigger story taking shape, Avengers continuing to deal with the Final Host, and a new run of West Coast Avengers started (Loved this run so much! A few characters whose books were cancelled all rolled into one book? Perfect!)!!

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

August 21, 2018 – Just got out from seeing Crazy Rich Asians with my parents. It was great! Also, it was the first time taking advantage of $5 ticket Tuesday’s at AMC, that was nice lol.

It was funny and witty and dramatic XD there is a small mid-credit scene. I couldn’t stay to see if there was anything at the end, I read a tweet from one of the actresses that suggested there may have been something at the end, but it might have been the mid-credit scene. So I dunno, someone would have to tell me otherwise. But yeah, great cast, loved the music. I wonder if the second and third books will be made into films too.
