So much happening everywhere! The Red Cloud in Superman, Ares asking for help from Diana, Arthur has a snappy new arm, the mystery continues in Heroes in Crisis, Black Cat was quite busy in ASM, the FF were dealing with a new team of FF-like characters, a new run of Ironheart started, and more happened in Infinity Warps and Spidergeddon.
November 21, 2018 – Alrighty, Wreck-it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet. Such a fun movie! I enjoyed it so much! A little bit of the first movie stuff and then just sooooo much! The cameos and the references were all over the place, as would be expected. And quite a cast. I knew the Disney princesses voices were all (or close to) the original voices, so all that stuff was great. And the music during the last scene with all of them was brilliantly put together. And of course it was heartfelt and lovely. Whenever I see it again, I’ll have to look out for more references.
Technically an end-credit scene. But not necessary. Good for a laugh if you understand the reference.
The Teen Titans were under pressure, Sideways needed to get away from things, Aquaman had a battle that didn’t end well and the Legion of Doom took advantage of the Drowned Earth situation, Rogue and Gambit had some starjamming guests, Havoc was unsure of if he was in control of himself or not, Morgan Le Fay had eyes on Weapon H, Arno was making life troublesome for Tony, The first Web of Venom issue dropped (these issues always showed a dark event that was connected to the larger symbiote story going on), this one had Carnage’s return, the West Coast Avengers were having publicity problems, Infinity Warps introduced us to the Ghost Panther mash-up character, and Superior Spider-Man was back during Spidergeddon. Movie next!
November 16, 2018 – Just finished Fantastic Beasts 2. I defo enjoyed myself. The movie looked stunning, of course. After everything that happened, I can’t wait for the next one! The progression to whatever comes next will be grand. There are sad moments too. We know what it’s building to, and it’s gonna be epic. It’s just gonna take a while to get there.
Kara confronts Rogol, G. Willow Wilson had issue 1 of her new Wonder Woman run, Barry was learning more about he Strength Force and the other Forces from Gorilla City, Zod joined forces with Superman against Rogol, Hawkman needed The Atom’s help, there were two Doreens, The Black Order got a miniseries, things were ramping up in Venom and Capt and Spider-Man. Nadia and Janet were bonding more, the future version of Thanos that was being raised by Cosmic Ghost Rider came along, the Exiles were all over the multiverse, Spidergeddon gave us more time with many alternate Spider-people we hadn’t seen much of in Spider-verse, Avengers had its 700th issue (my store having that Alex Ross variant was awesome), Uncanny X-Men got a new run starting off he X-Men Disassembled arc, and the Fantastic Four called in ever previous member to help deal with the cosmic entity called The Griever (she’s the embodiment of the process of entropy). Movie next!
Slade still in Arkham, we got the Nightwings group of good samaritans, I think that Superman in Sideways was another universe’s one, but I can’t remember, The Flood had come in the Drowned Earth event, Hal Jordan got a new run, Victor got a body in Runaways, Marvel Knights got a new run for a little bit for its 20th Anniversary, the Asgardians of the Galaxy were dealing with space zombies, Hulk had literally fallen to pieces, Doctor Strange was quite confused, and more from Infinity Wars, Spidergeddon, Death of the Inhumans and that fun Champions arc.
Variants and DWM. If you hadn’t guess yet, yes, they killed Lockjaw in issue 1 of Death of the Inhumans. The Heroes in Crisis variant covers showed moments of characters defeats of deaths as depicted as a report on said character.
Another dose of What If…? classic and modern, OM Hawkeye tried to get his last mission done before he went blind, Tony was dealing with his brother Arno, The White Queen got an X-Men Black issue, more Infinity Warps, Spidergeddon, Extermination, and Witching Hour craziness, The Drowned Earth event had begun, Heroes in Crisis issue 2, and Jessica Jones got a volume for a previously digital-only miniseries.
This time of Wonder Woman variants was amazing, love them! All Artgerm covers are magic, as seen on that Black Cat cover.
Two-Face working with Batman and Gordon, we got an Old Lady Harley miniseries, chaos all over DC, Darkseid planning things in JL Odyssey, Hecate coming for everyone’s magic Wonder Woman, the beginning of the Drowned event in Titans, another What If…? classic and new story, a raptor and a Tyrannosaurs having good times, Daredevil confronts the Punisher while he’s on the run, Moon Knight had his 200th issue, Logan’s return continued, Juggernaut got an X-Men Black issue, Infinity Warps continued and Spidergeddon gave us Spider-Girls #1 and a new run for Gwen having been newly named Ghost-Spider.
The foil covers will follow.
In my tweet for these foil covers I said Batgirl slightly takes the lead over Action Comics as my fave cover of the week. Though, I did have some in my box still. The Batman Beyond one was pretty cool, as you’ll see.
Batman found out KGBeast is the one who shot Richard, drama everywhere, Witching Hour still going, Shuri got her own miniseries, Carol finds out huge family secrets, Spidergeddon hits the 616 (damn totem-devouring monsters!), Mystique gets and X-Men Black one-shot, Vader meets the spirit of a Sith from long ago while construction of Vader’s Castle commenced, and Nadia gets a new Wasp run. The foil covers follow.
Classic and modern What If…?’s, more foil covers (below), the Death of Squirrel Girl, the Avengers try to deal with the Immortal Hulk, X-Men Black with a Mojo issue, Spidergeddon starts properly, and just so much going on!
