September 4, 2019

More some reason I posted photos from Sept 4, 11, 18, 25 and Oct 2 all on Oct 7.

We got a reprinting of Poison Ivy’s first appearance, that Supergirl issue must have been set before the Superman issue that concluded that situation with Rogol, Hal and Carol faced trouble together, Harley was back to normal, Slade and his son were not exactly bonding, Hypertime was having trouble in Justice League, DCeased had a special, Harley and Ivy got a miniseries, Legion of Super Heroes had a two-part prelude involving Rose & Thorn (mentioned that a little while ago on here), OMQuill and Gladiator were at arms, Hulk was all Gamma chaos everywhere, the Future foundation broke who they thought was Reed out of a space prison but it was actually Maker, while the FF had decided (well Reed did) to revisit their original mission in the original ship and things go badly, again but differently, oh right, that Gwen run that started was about her being on this earth since she was taking classes at the school 616 Peter taught at (multidimensional commuting is a lot), Amadeus and Luna Snow got together, on livestream accidentally, Scream was taken over by Carnage (FYI Carnage was serving Knull at this point), and the Champions were betrayed.

Doctor Who Magazines that had piled up are photo two and posters afterwards.

August 28, 2019

The H-Dial was busy, one end of Rogol Zaar, Red Hood got some new Outlaws, Babs was dealing with a rogue Oracle, the Terrifics encountered Bizarro, JLD was struggling against Circe (having accepted Luthor’s offer), Deadshot was gunning for Batman, Luthor’s gift to Cheetah was the Godslayer sword, Red Cloud also indulged in a Dark Gift, The Flash’s rogues did so too, The Justice/Doom war began, in a new Batman/Superman run, they learned that some of the heroes were infected by The Batman Who Laughs to go dark (time was not on their side), the Power Pack ad a one-shot (I’m relatively sure that’s a one-shot and not a miniseries), Niko and Carolina were secretly hero-ing it up in Runaways, Fisk was after Boomerang because he knew a big secret, Avengers Mountain wasn’t happy, General Hux and Poe Dameron both got a one-shot each, Black Panther returned to earth, Stephen was continuing to have magical troubles, Steve was wanted for murder, Thor was dealing with the aftermath of the war, Kamala and Carol’s team-up continued, Absolute Carnage and HoX continued, and Marvel Comics #1000 dropped.

August 21, 2019

Evidently I forgot to post these till the following week. Another week with no variant picked up. At this point I tended to leave variants for one of the biannual sales or just when it was a light week and I could squeeze some variants in.

Black Manta’s gift was basically a giant mech, the Nightwings were attacked by Talon, Lobo was holding his own, DC started giving certain villains one-shots for YOTV and Black Mask was the first, Thomas Wayne Batman and Gotham Girl were a duo, Nightmare dropped in on Deadpool, Matt was struggling at not being Daredevil, Tony was having a hard time, Gwen got a new run, Valkyrie had to POX and HOTMU continued.

August 14, 2019

This week was when DC villains who accepted Luthor’s offer got their Dark Gifts. Darkseid got a lot of his power back, the Outsiders had to deal with Ras, Batman and Mr. Freeze had beef, Captain Cold took on Barry and did decently well, Cheetah used her Dark Gift against Diana, the mystery of the leader of Leviathan begins, Spider-Man meets the Sinister Syndicate, Stephen was having a magical time and it wasn’t good, Carol was still figuring things out after the big revelation, Hulk and The Thing continued to brawl, Riri took a trip to Wakanda, Loki messed with Tony, Silver Surfer’s infection spread, Gwenpool got a new run, The Age of Krakoa continued, and the Life Foundation symbiotes and Scream were being tempted by Carnage.

Detective Comics 1000 variants in photo two.

The 1930’s and 1950’s-1980’s Detective Comics 1000 variants. : )

August 7, 2019

There were multiversal Green Lantern adventures with Hal, Harley got some upgrades (from Lex I think she accepted his offer for a bit), Jericho came for his father, the Justice League had some Starro issues, Sinestro was using his new Lantern powers, Bane goes for Batman again trying to repeat his previous record of breaking Bruce’s back, Black Cat has some magical fun, Matt is trying not to be Daredevil, Cosmic Ghost Rider visits his past self in Frank’s past, Susan was in Natasha’s cross-hairs, Aero was learning about her powers, Sam was a black helmet Nova, Agents of Atlas got a new run, the Future Foundation got a new run (other than Sue, Reed and their kids, the Future Foundation was with them), House of X issue 2 dropped and Absolute Carnage’s debut happened.

Variants in photo two followed by posters.

So much fantastic art! Love the action figure variants! And yes that Thor issue came with old-school 3-D glasses.

This was one of the variant covers for Marvel Comics #1000

July 31, 2019

A couple annuals, a Batman Secret Files issue within City of Bane (I forgot to mention, this event has a few HUGE things that changed the Batman world forever), the Batman Who Laughs final issue revealing all, the the Sequel era got a one-shot, an alien was hunting the Venom symbiote, we got a history lesson in FN Spider-Man, Victor went Doom? The Thing has only a certain amount of time to be in his human form once a year, the Hulk interrupted that, Carol and Kamala team up in the next arc of Marvel Team-up, and we got issue 1 of Powers of X (10).

The Lion King (2019)

July 24, 2019 – The Lion King. Yes, honestly it’s basically a 99.9% carbon copy of the original movie. Do I care? No! I enjoyed seeing the story in a CGI format, still loved the music and everything else. I did want Scar to have his full “Be Prepared” song, but eh. Lol. So yeah generally I enjoyed it very nearly as much as the original. Yup. ^__^ oh, I did like seeing the scenes of Nala deciding to leave etc. since we didn’t see how that happened in the original movie.

No mid or end-credit scenes.

July 24, 2019

Mister Thunderbolt was causing havoc in Dial H for Hero, Rose&Thorn showed up to give Clark trouble (she actually had a crazy arc during all of this that ended very surprisingly, I really enjoyed her character during it all), more villains got Offers, Flash ended his time in the past learning from it and his potential future in this run’s 75th issue, JLD needed to find someone new to dawn Nabu’s helmet, in Wonder Woman’s 75th issue of this run, Themyscira was under attack, Peter having a super villain roommate was not going well, Stephen and Clea has to deal with a magically enhanced Galactus before he literally consumed every magical realm, Kamala got a fancy new alien suit, Sword Master got a title (the art of which was breath-taking at times, I posted (or will post) some of those panels on my comic IG), we got Jane as the new (and only) Valkyrie wielding the All-Weapon, the Fearless anthology miniseries started (it focused on a female heroes inspiring young women through various adventures), another Web of Venom issue, and the first issues of both History of the Marvel Universe and House of X arrived.

Movie next!

July 17, 2019

I posted this initially ten days after this date because I was at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2019 that week. It was my first time after years of trying and it was everything I thought it would be and more. And because I picked up this week’s issues and the next week’s, I left all the variants in my box for another time for both week’s piles. Though I did get a Marvel Rising poster.

Jimmy Olson got his own title, Ric was having Court of Owl problems, Black Manta returned in Aquaman, Lobo may have been surprised by his daughter, Lex evolved into something more thanks to Perpetua, Bane had taken Gotham, Punisher had to battle some Brood, Spidey Life Story had reached the 2000’s, Norman Osborn was making moves, after Carol learned she was half Kree, some of the general public wasn’t happy about it, oh right, I forgot that Domino and the Hotshots had that random story arc of getting powers of Celestials, Loki got a title which was a pretty great run of finding out more about himself and what his purpose was, and AOX was ending as everything was crumbling.

July 10, 2019

Wonder Twins had to try to save the world, Young Justice were lost in the multiverse, Naomi was living her best life with her powers manifested more fully (even though in present day we still don’t know her limits), Bruce and Thomas duke it out, Flash also meets a future self in his past, Spectre and Bruce still having problems (that variant I got, wow), Red Hood, Catwoman and others got an Offer, Hawkman was dealing with shadows, Black Lightning was not happy with Bruce, man were united against Rogol Zaar, the Event Leviathan mystery continued, Eddie and his newly discovered son have some bonding attempts, Felicia was plotting, Susan Storm got a minseries that drove into her past as an undercover agent for Nick Fury, Captain Phasma got a one-shot, Riri needed Doctor Strange’s help, Sam Alexander was in search of a new helmet while he was being hunted, Mephisto was having fun messing with the Avengers, AOX was getting tense, the WOTR’s was nearing its end, and this ASM run reached its 25th issue.

Variants in photo two and six posters after that.

See? Look at that Batman cover with Spectre on it! Also the Absolute Carnage variant for Black Cat is pretty cool.

It was almost time for House of X and Powers of X (10) to begin the Krakoan age, hence these posters. Jane would soon become a Valkrie and we would soon get the Absolute Carnage event and the History of the Marvel Universe minseries.
