Well, I very much enjoyed this!
It was fantastic to be back in a theater to watch a Star Wars movie!
I loved seeing a bunch of the characters from the show on the big screen. And the new characters were enjoyable. The movie is basically two parts and both were fun!
Some people say that it felt like two episodes of the show, and others felt like it was a movie. I agree that it did feel like two episodes. But I didn’t mind it. It also felt like a movie. The pacing worked well I think. Most of the scenes from the trailers seemed to come from the first half of the movie, so the most of the rest of the movie was new stuff.
The visuals were fantastic as expected and the sound and music were great! Some familiar music of course, and some new things that I enjoyed. And most of the locations were new, but there were a couple that we’ve been to before, and one that I don’t think we’ve seen on-screen before (ever?).
I did have fun with Din and Grogu on this adventure, but I still wish that LucasFilm had decided to make season 4 of the show. The scripts were all finished by the time we got the season 3 finale. They were ready to go for the next season and that all was abruptly halted. And who knows when we’ll see those stories play out. I would assume that movie that will eventually come that will connect all the shows that Dave Filoni made. But who knows how much they’ve had to restructure that since they don’t have the setup of that season 4. Though I think Ahsoka season 2 may have a lot of that stuff in it as a result. We’ll see next year.
But this movie was a fun ride! Certainly a movie to bring family and friends to watch together and just enjoy it all. And you really don’t need to know much to understand anything in the movie.
The obvious cameos are obvious to those who know the characters and actors, but they don’t take away from anything in the plot. For example, it’s been 21 (of our) years since we last saw Rotta on-screen, but that doesn’t change anything, it’s just fun to know for those who do.
