June 22, 2022

I don’t know a lot about Milestone beyond what I knew from the Static Shock animated series and various characters that I now know were of this brand, so the Milestones in History title seemed like a good way to help with that beyond eventually getting to the Milestone Omnibus I got a few months ago. Duo’s first issue caught my interest, so we’ll see where that goes. Black Adam got a maxiseries, though I’m not sure whether it’s in the main DC continuity or just it’s own thing. It’s not a Black Label series, so I feel like it could be canon? Again, I’ll see. Dark Crisis continues with a couple tie-ins from Young Justice and Flash. The CW Berlantiverse/Arrowverse crossover event has it’s final issue here. I have enjoyed this event, it helped with all the cancelled shows this season. And I am wondering what connections there will be to this in Flash season 9 when we get it. Crimson Reign continues. There is a lot going on in all the X-titles. Punisher gets a one issue homage to the original War Journal I think. Miles is learning more about this other world and things just aren’t good. Though this Moon Girl and Miles special is the first in various team-up titles coming at us this summer, so at least there are some fun things going on for Miles (whenever this takes place in relation to his current story). Though Kamala is getting a few team-ups, that has me ecstatic! And we got the Marvel Vices Pride special too, can’t wait to get to that!

Following are many amazing variants.

As I said in the last post, I do enjoy the portrayal of legacy on covers, hence getting this one.

I really have started to like Razzah covers recently.

Another wonderful Peach Momoko cover here.

Here are more AAPI covers. When I get them all, I’ll probably post them all in one photo (I’m not sure, but this might be the last three of them, I’ll have to check).

This Hellfire Gala Dauterman cover is just, I mean, look at Wanda!!

I had to get this Jen Bartel cover too. I mean I tend to get her covers anyway, but still! It’s gorgeous!

I saved this for last because just really like this cover. It’s an homage cover, it’s coloring is beautiful, the scene itself is lovely. I had to get another copy for the cover.

June 15, 2022

This post is a bit late just because the couple days after I got comics were just busy, so I couldn’t get to taking photos till yesterday and then I was busy with other things yesterday and last night so I didn’t have time to post these till today.

Since I’m so utterly behind in all the Power Ranger titles I have no idea who died. Issue 11 is the penultimate issue of The Marvels. This Captain America title I’m not quite sure about since I’m not sure if it’s a 616 story or a standalone title, but we’ll see. Looking forward to all the drama happening in Wolverine. I’m excited for the Hulkling and Wiccan special! And even though I haven’t yet read the Fraction run of Iron Fist, I’m looking forward to these two Immortal Weapons paying a visit to the new Iron Fist. Intrigued by the Miles and Gwen multiverse stories continuing. Tony and Patsy having something big happening soon. Of course the Reckoning War still rages. General stuff happening in DC issues. It was nice that they gave Tim Drake a Pride special, I’m excited for that.

Favorite variants after.

I always like covers that depict the legacy and history of characters, so this Iron Fist cover showing the past Iron Fists behind the new one was a no-brainer. These window shade variants that have been popping up recently have been nice, I’m not sure why I like them so much, but I do, haha. And of course another Dauterman cover this time one of the first among his second Hellfire Gala covers. Laura looks great!

June 2022 late issues

Another DWM from last year. The A Cover for the new Punisher run since my store only had variants when it came out. Another copy of that variant for Thor 26 as a gift for a friend. Copies of the Thor and Hulk crossover so I can put them in their respective boxes. And the other two images are just other issues that I forgot to include in the first photo. I guess I was rushing a bit.

This is a variant from a couple months ago. It finally came in and it’s fantastic! I love when artists make that kind of glow effect just with colors. These Gwen covers have been great.

This is just a late issue of Ghost Rider from a few weeks ago.

Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 3 (2022)

Wow. That was a lot. So, first off, the changes to some other things from the comics revealed this episode was surprising to say the least, but for now, I didn’t mind them too much. This certainly keeps the mystery up for those who’ve read the comics.

Other than that, the other aspects of the story are ramping up. Damage Control are stepping up and tension is growing. The character development scenes in this episode were quite lovely. The family scenes and us finally getting the “Good isn’t a thing you are, it’s a thing you do.” line from the comics was fantastic. The villain stuff this episode seemed a bit quick but that’s just because of the 6 episode length.

With two episodes left, there’s a lot to do. Next week will be quite the episode considering where we’re going. And who knows what the finale will be like.

There were a couple references to the rest of the MCU in this episode, I wonder if they’ll lead to anything in the future.

I’m still enjoying this show very much!! I can’t wait to see what these last two episodes bring and how it all flows into The Marvels. till next week!

Lightyear (2022)

June 16, 2022 – I have to say, if I were Andy and all his friends when he was a kid in the 90’s, I would have been blown away by this movie XD. And today, I’m similarly in awe. It was a fantastic film!

The plot was pretty simple, but it had reach. I love this version of Buzz, he’s what we know from the Buzz toy from the Toy Story franchise, but with more depth of course, since he’s the character the toy is based off of. He’s a bit by the books but does his own thing when he feels he needs to. That can be a good thing at times and a bad thing at others.

The other characters in the movie were enjoyable, though other than both Hawthorne‘s the other two were maybe a bit one-note. But they were still fun. And Sox is of course the best!

There weren’t too many twists and turns, though one thing was unexpected. I think it was a decent twist. Basically a lot of things go wrong before things go right (regarding the team’s plans).

This was just a fun adventurous movie with a great lead and lots of blowing things up! I’m certainly glad I saw it in theaters. Space stuff is always better in theaters.

Mid-credit scene: Yes. A funny one.

End-credit scene: Yes. Also for laughs.

A-very-last-thing-you-see-end-credit scene. Oh yes indeed. The most important one.

Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 2 (2022)

June 15, 2022- This second episode was also fantastic!! The visuals of the text messages and animated feelings that Kamala was having through the episode were great!

Of course, being only 6 episodes, the plot has to move quickly, so characters are coming in earlier than really makes sense to do, but I assume Marvel wasn’t sure about how this would be received, so like all the other Disney+ series, this is a single season limited series (so far). If they’d had let’s say 3 seasons, I’d have introduced Kamran in season 2 and Red Dagger (who we’re getting later this season) in season 3. But eh, we’re getting what we’re getting in the time we have.

The training montage was great because by the end of it, she was better but she’s not mastered things. She’s coming off of this high of a little bit of super heroing and is certainly overconfident. But hey, she’s 16. This episode is of course all focusing on meeting Kamran, the new senior at school. Those who know the comics will know what this probably means, but for now, it’s just competition for Bruno. All Kamala’s interactions with Kamran are all what you’d expect from having an instant crush on someone. All their scenes together are well done and the chemistry works. Also, love that Eternals reference ^__^

The side plot of Eid and the vote with Nakia gaining confidence were also very important moments both for Pakistani culture being portrayed on screen, and also showing the strength of friendship, love and support between Kamala and Nakia.

The mystery of the bangle still is, well mysterious, but we got a few more breadcrumbs to follow. This aspect of the character is also unknown for fans of the comics because this is purely MCU created. So, I am intrigued to see how they craft this origin.

Kamala has her second public hero moment in this episode and it’s a challenge for her. We’ll see if that leads to anything more I suppose.

But the ending kept rolling with surprises. The face, the attack, the save. So many questions!

I’m continuing to love this series as I’m sure I will say after every episode. Till next week!

Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 1 (2022)

As I’ve said before, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is my favorite Marvel character. So, when the series was announced in August 2019 at D23, I was ecstatic. Therefore, I decided to make a post after having watched the first episode. I probably will do this for all 6 episodes.

As a person born in India and having grown up in America my whole life, I related to Kamala being a fellow south Asian growing up in America. And of course, I also related to her being a super-fan of the Marvel heroes. Even though I was 24 when Kamala was introduced to the world in 2014, I had enough awareness of India and other south Asian cultures through my adopted family to be able to compare it to Kamala being part of the Pakistani culture.

Many people have said that Kamala has been like Peter Parker was when he first appeared in comics in that Kamala is a lens through which we, as fans of all of these characters, can experience the Marvel universe. She is intelligent and good-hearted, brave and willing to admit when she’s made mistakes. Back in the day, Peter was the kid through which generations could see themselves as while he was interacting with the adult heroes.

June 8, 2022 – I am very excited for the world to meet her in the MCU as portrayed by Iman Vellani. After watching the first episode of this miniseries (6 episodes) and after having watched a number of interviews of which she has taken part in, I can see that she is as close to the character as one can be. She’s a super-fan of Marvel and the MCU, and her enthusiasm for the role and the world Kamala lives in is wonderful. She has grown up in Canada and Western culture and through this role, she has gotten more connected to her heritage. I can’t wait to see what she and the cast of the show will bring to their roles in this series, “The Marvels” movie next year, and beyond.

Welcome to the MCU, Kamala Khan!! #MsMarvel #KamalaKhan #GoodIsNotAThingYouAreItsAThingYouDo

June 8, 2022

DW Origins 1 dropped, so I’m excited to see what stories they made for The Fugitive. So much is going in in Venom. Tombstone has it out for Spidey. I got this SW 24 variant because I loved the design of this moment from Ep IX. The new run of Savage Avengers continued, as did the X-Men 92′ series. Thor and Jane got their own miniseries. The next issue of the Earth-Prime event dropped. And then DC just dropped alllll this. Nubia’s limited series, Poison Ivy’s new (first also I think) run (written by the ever-awesome G. Willow Wilson, co-creator of Kamala Khan), Teen Justice’s debut, the next issue of Flashpoint Beyond, Dark Crisis’s first issue, the Aquaman Black Label miniseries starting and DC’s Pride special all dropped on one day!! I’m excited to get to this particular week’s issues.

Favorite variants and covers and posters below.

Oh and the next post is a surprise!

As I said, I love the way the artist depicted this scene from Episode IX. And there’s that next Peach Momoko cover of Jane. Jenny Frison’s art is always amazing, plus I enjoy Cloak & Dagger, so, there we go. The Pride cover for Thor 26 of Rūna looks beautiful! And I really love this Poison Ivy 1 variant (I have another variant coming in the mail at some point).

This is the Dark Crisis wraparound cover. When I saw this in the promotions for this event, I knew I wanted to get a copy just for the cover also. I am quite excited for this Crisis event.

This is the Jim Lee homage variant of Dark Crisis 1. His art is legendary and it’s great seeing all these images from days passed.

This is the wraparound variant for DC’s Pride special. Now, the first two images are the actual issue and the third one is of the art via a promotional image in another DC comic because the almost TPB spine of this special prevented me from properly folding it out. Which is of course great for the book itself, haha.

Here are the Marvel posters! The Daredevil one is my favorite one of these three.

So, with the Marvel posters I know what I’ll get through the Marvel Previews each month, but for DC I never know. So, it’s always a surprise. This was certainly a surprise! XD I probably wouldn’t have gotten the other copy of this issue if I’d known there was a full poster coming. The art is by Daniel Sampere. This is so awesome!

June 1, 2022

Basically, I hadn’t finished the previous pile of comics, so I couldn’t take the photos or start this pile I got on the 9th.

We got AC and Batman annuals. There was the Omega issue of Shadow War and the JL Road to Dar Crisis special. Sweet Paprika 10 and all its variants (at least all the variants that I could get from my store). The order was wrong because I didn’t realize the black and white cover was the A Cover. Knights of X was continuing and Black Panther had a lot going on (plus that awesome Ms. Marvel variant!!). Captain Marvel’s Binary entity seemed to be starting it’s (her?) journey. Clea had many things to deal with. I’m excited for Carnage, since this story is still mysterious. Miles was about to start an adventure on a scary new earth. The Avengers Forever event continued and Vader and Sabé partnered up!!

Favorite variants below.

The more Peach Momoko art the world has, the better! Love her art so much! There will be another in the next post (FYI, there will be 14 images in the next post! XD).

Of course, as my favorite Marvel character, Anytime I see a cover with Kamala on it, I try to get one. So, this AAPI cover was a no-brainer.
