July 5, 2023

Oh right, Happy 4th of July, y’all! Hope everyone stayed safe.

The Yoda title has been so fun! Matt Murdock is just having a time. FF and Doctor Strange are having a lot going on in both titles. Also, this Thor arc is fantastic! And this is a new title for Captain Marvel. The Sinister Four is the next Before the Fall of X special. Captain America celebrates its 750th issue! After this is a special before the next new Capt run starts. This Marvel Zero special collects the two Marvel FCBD issues that I couldn’t get, how serendipitous. This is the first of this Gargoyles run to have Demona, exciting! The Doctor Who comic is part of a larger multi-media project called Doom’s Day. The next Dawn of DC issues look good. This is the start o the next DC event, Knight Terrors. I’m intrigued! They’re dipping into horror and nightmares. Many of the DC characters are stuck in their nightmares. Deadman is one of the leads. And as you can see, those covers!!

Covers and posters below.

Jung-Geun Yoon is a fantastic artist. I had to get this Aphra cover. And of course another wonderful Momoko cover.

Another Brilliant Mark Brooks corner box cover!

The next Alex Ross cover!

This Jen Bartel cover is just. Wow. I remember her posting the image on twitter and I couldn’t wait to get this cover. Certainly going to slab this.

Another cover that has an artist who mostly does incentive covers. Besch covers are wonderful!

The next Nakayama cover! Love the red and blue.

Just a nice photo variant for this special.

Another fantastic Artgerm cover, but from Titan Comics.

The next Peacemaker movie poster variant.

There are SO MANY variants for this Knight Terrors event. Too many! Most of these will be in separate artist collections or theme collections.

As y’all know, I enjoy Ravager’s character and design. Plus these artists are great in general.

Jamie McKelvie and Leirix are just phenomenal artists. That’s it.

Here are posters! The Hellfire Gala cover poster and a Blue Beetle movie poster!

June 28, 2023

As I said in the previous post, I’m still not caught up.

(OH, this is actually my 500th post!! Haha! That’s cool!)

The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos intrigued me, I think I’ll enjoy it. I’m still loving the Vader BWR title. I’m not quite sure when this Warlock title takes place, I thought it was present day, but not sure. Excited for Ghost Rider and Deadpool’s stories. Daredevil & Echo’s first issue was interesting, so I’m happy to keep reading. Silk is always fun. The Thor storyline is so exciting. And this is the final Carnage Reigns issue, which is funny because I just read the first issue a couple days ago, haha. These Before the Fall of X issues are intriguing. The Harley plot is crazy, I love it. The other Dawn of DC issues are great! Can’t wait to get to these!

Covers below.

The Black Cat cover is a Pride variant. Werneck is such a graceful artist. This David Mack cover for Daredevil & Echo is just fantastic. I missed out on the David Mack artbook a couple days ago. Grumble. I liked this Heralds variant since it shows them all on the cover.

As y’all know, I love the movie poster covers.

This is the last (I assume) for the Taurin Clarke connecting covers for this event.

Of course, the next Jen Bartel cover.

I decided to put these foil covers together. I actually thought that this first one was going to be a fulfill cover, not just the title, but it still looks good. And the MMPR one is just amazing as all these foil covers.

Many of Sweeney Boo’s covers are incentive covers so I keep an eye out for them. And of course there’s another Jenny Frison cover.

I like that they did two covers for this. Though none of the other Swimsuit Variants have two. I wonder why not. I just thought this was fun, plus I enjoy the art.

July 2023 Late Issues

Yup, I’m posting late again. It’s been a busy few weeks. I’m still not caught up on reading. And I went to three movies today, as you can see the three previous posts are movie posts.

This is the variant cover of the hardback for Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons. I will repeat myself, this is the most amazingly drawn and colored comic I’ve ever seen. And the DWM from January.

This cover alone should prepare you for the art inside, alas, it really only scratches the surface.

Double-sided poster from inside the issue.

Elemental (June 16, 2023)

July 11 –

Wow, that was a wonderful movie. I mean it’s Pixar. Of course it was. But yeah, the story was fantastic, the music was amazing. I loved the art design of the characters and the world itself. Everything from the city to the food to various items in the world were designed in a way that worked with each of the elemental types.

And as usual, Pixar made me tear up. The emotional moments hit perfectly. And of course the cast did a brilliant job. I was invested in all the characters. It just was a wonderful movie. I’m glad I went to the theater to see it. I would certainly enjoy a sequel.

Mid-credit scene: No, but the animated credits added to the story. I always love when Pixar movies do that.

End-credit scene: Nope

No Hard Feelings (June 23, 2023)

July 11 –

Well, that was a very enjoyable movie. A lot of funny moments, but a lot more heart-felt moments than I thought also. The cast was great. I forgot it was a small cast.

The plot is of course as advertised, and probably some expected directions that things go. But, it really was just enjoyable. Oh and I did not expect THAT much being shown. Haha, you’ll see.

It actually didn’t feel as long as the movie was. I guess I was invested in the characters, so it went by decently quickly. There was certainly a lot of physical comedy and it was very well-done.

Mid-credit scene: Nope.

End-credit scene: Nope.

Joy Ride (July 5, 2023)

July 11, 2023 –

These next three posts will be a bit different than my usual movie posts. I hadn’t been able to see any of these three movies when they came out so I decided to have a triple feature today XD. I know two of these came out last month, so some have seen some of these already.

This was such a fun movie!! The cast was amazing!! The humor was of course crude and hilarious. The plot was decent, the story had some twists and turns. Just wow. I laughed so much! And it had a lot of heart too. Certain moments had me tearing up.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this movie. I will enjoy watching this again whenever I’m able to see it again. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, go for it!!

Mid-credit scene: Nope.

End-credit scene: Nope.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)

June 29, 2023-

So, first off, I enjoyed the movie a lot. It’s been a while since I rewatched any of the other movies, I probably should have done so just to catch any references to the past, but that’s fine. Some people have said that it felt as long as it was, and for me, I didn’t really feel the length of time. But I attribute that to it being so long since I’ve been in this world again. Whenever there are long gaps between movies within a franchise, I always love just diving into the world again. I missed the characters and the music and the adventure.

Everyone did a fantastic job acting. Harrison Ford was as wonderful as ever. I certainly feel like he enjoyed being Indy. Phoebe Waller-bridge was enjoyable also. Though I would have liked a little bit more character development for her character. But I did enjoy her scenes. She’s a very expressive actor, and that is certainly helpful when there’s a lot going on in scenes. And the actor who played her sidekick, Teddy, was also fun to watch. Congrats to Ethann Isidore. Mads Mikkelsen was a great villain. He’s good at these kinds of roles. He was always in command of his scenes.

The story was pretty much what most Indy stories are, get the thing that the antagonists want to use for nefarious purposes before they do. There were also multiple locations across the world which was fun. Returning characters were enjoyable. The third act was very well-done, I thought. Everything was brought together and there were certainly some unexpected little twists.

I had fun watching this movie and I think it was a nice send-off for Harrison in the role. I am excited to see what else he decides to act in in the future. I know the next movie I expect to see him in is the next Captain America movie replacing William Hurt.

Mid-credit scene: Nope.

End-credit scene: Nope.

June 21, 2023

I am intrigued by old man Quentin Quire in X-Force. Grootfall is also mysterious. Hulk started a new run. Carnage Reigns continues with its penultimate issue. The Scarlet Witch annual starts off Agatha’s quest to rewrite the Darkhold in a bunch of annuals of various titles to come. Now I was surprised with this kind of event being announced, Ultimate Invasion was just unexpected. Earth-1610 was destroyed during the recent (ish) Secret Wars event. But apparently Maker has been trying to get back to it or bring it back or something for a few years now. So, I guess it’s back or at least some of the characters are back.

These are both Black Adam and Batgirls finale issues. Selena is out of prison and ready to deal with everything that has been going on in Alleytown. I’m just always happy to read a Nightwing issue. And the Dawn of DC issues continue. And finally, Wonder Woman has its 800th issue!! Very excited for that as I am to get to Flash 800 from two weeks before this.

Covers below.

This issue had some great variants. Had to get Momoko. And I am loving these negative space covers!

Peach Momoko is just so talented!

I had forgotten that some of the corner box covers would be single characters and not just the groups of character heads.

Surprisingly, This was the only variant for this that caught my eye. And this one was mainly for the color and the touch of legacy in it.

The next connecting cover.

Always happy for more from Nakayama!

As I’ve said about other covers with Conner on them, I just love his character design and that first DC comic aspect too. But this is also just a fun cover.

I’m relatively sure I have other Acuna covers, but I just really like this one. I would watch an entire DC animated show that was based in this art style.

The next of Jen Bartel’s Street Style covers. It’s just amazing isn’t it? And one of the Swimsuit variants. I think Im only going to get two or three of these. But I just liked this one.

And of course these wonderful covers!

The main cover is just nice and balanced. The second cover is by the same artist who worked on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow maxiseries, plus the details on it are just amazing. And the foil cover is just legacy and fun. I probably will get the two latter ones slabbed.

June 14, 2023

Hello there! So, I’m still behind on reading and sorting. I have 3 piles of issues to get through before getting to this pile or the next one. Hopefully I can get through everything soon.

This Static issue is a team-up with Anansi which I am excited to read. This Batman Inc issue I’ll get to meet Joker Inc. I love that we got that DC Pride Through The Years special to get readers who may not know the history of some of the long-time LGBTQIA+ characters. Finally got a new MTG issue!

The Sons of Origins special I probably could have just picked up the variant for, but it’s nice to have these specific origin stories in one issue. Ghost Rider vs Ghost Rider should be an interesting issue (if the confrontation actually happens in this issue and not at the end like many comics have the cover scene happen). This is the last Sana Starros issue. More from Wolverine and Beasts’ conflict in Wolverine. Extreme Venomverse continues. This is the final issue of Kelly Thompson’s 50 issue run of Captain Marvel. I’m excited but sad since I really enjoy her run on the title. We have the first issue of Spider-man India, which is the first title for the character in 20 years! And of course because of his role in Across the Spider-verse movie that just came out, his #1 is out of print with a second printing on its way. T’Challa has a new run that focuses on him since he was exiled from Wakanda. I am interested to see what happens with him. The Cold War two-title event is coming to a close with its Omega issue. And Carnage Reigns got its antepenultimate issue. And finally, Marvel’s Pride special dropped. Oh and the next issue of SWI.

Covers below.

A lovely couple of Momoko covers.

I really liked this cover. I’m not sure if I have any other covers by this artist, but I certainly will keep an eye out. It’s like a painting! This will be slabbed.

I think that there are a couple of these Disney 100 covers left, but I’m not sure.

Of course the wonderful Alex Ross’s main cover art for Doctor Strange continues.

This is another Reilly windowshades cover! I love these! There was another variant that I wanted but I guest Peach Momoko changed her mind or was taken off the issue, because it wasn’t there and has disappeared from the lists. And this isn’t the only cover from these two weeks that this happened with.

This of course is the Mr. Garcin cover that I had the post of last time.

This is a wonderful Rahzzah cover! I forgot this was Rahzzah, I thought it was a BossLogic cover when I saw it in the pile.

Liefeld is doing a few homage variants, but I liked this one since I recognized it as paying tribute to Captain America (1968) 111, from March 1, 1969.

This is the next Taurin Clarke connecting cover for Carnage Reigns.
