All the DC titles look great. There seems to be a lot going on in Marvel other than all the X-drama. Miles and peter got a team-up title. Gwen got a Giant-size special. Gang War ended with this Daredevil issue. This Venom issue started a mini event between it and Carnage for two issues each. Peach Momoko got a title in the new Ultimates universe focusing on the X-Men. I feel like her universe she started a couple years ago could have been the start of this perhaps? Either way, it’s great that she gets a whole universe to play in. And of course, Kamala got a new miniseries, which as y’all know, is my fave character.

Here’s the next Danino cover for Gargoyles: Dark Ages. This is the main cover for Ultimate X-Men, waiting on the variants. Gotta love the next Bartel cover for She-Hulk. Szerdy tattoo covers are just always amazing. I love them! And the Thanos cover is one of the Marvel Masterworks covers. I’m not going to get all of them, I don’t think, but I will get a few of them. They’re literally masterpieces.

I wouldn’t normally post covers that are part of a collection individually, I will be getting all these as they come. I added these photos simply because I also have the figure that this cover is based on.

Here they are next to each other. They look great! I may do this for the other covers once I get the corresponding figures. I’m not sure, we’ll see. Also, 3 days till the show returns!

Most of the covers minus the incentives. Love these! I forgot that the Stormbreakers covers are almost virgin covers, they look great! I still have the goal to get one of every cover with Kamala on them and all Ms. Marvel issues and variants. That’s probably my only 100% complete collection goal. One day!

I mean look at these!!

February 2024 Late Issues 2

A lot of covers. All fantastic ones! Also one late normal issue.

The X-Force cover is an homage to the classic Giant-Size X-Men 1 from 1975. That Storm cover is just quite cool. And of course the next Nakayama cover for Catwoman.

A great foil cover for Power Girl by Carla Cohen.

The Moon Knight is a second printing of the issue. So cool! It reminded me of some MTG art. Of course this Fire & Ice cover is an amazing Artgerm for the Sweater Weather set. I didn’t even know about this Ms. Marvel cover for Avengers Twilight 3 from last time. It’s paying homage to the Dark Knight Returns infamous cover. I love it so much! Plus my favorite color is orange.

Damsel (March 8, 2024) (early screening- March 6, 2024)

It was strange seeing a Netflix film in a theater. But it was a fun experience. We got a free drink and a small popcorn, and we got items to wear and keep. The items to wear were various bows and ribbons, we could make our own bracelets (I didn’t because I had too many things in my hand already), and flower crowns.

The movie was exactly what the trailer suggests. And I enjoyed it! Of course the twist doesn’t hit as well when the movie is advertised as such, but that was fine with me. It just made me intrigued by what the characters were going to go.

Millie Bobby Brown was, of course, brilliant. She did a marvelous job. Most of the movie was her acting by herself, so she had the most to do, but I enjoyed the other cast members performances as well.

The story was well done, there were a couple more twists that I didn’t expect and liked. The music in this film was very well chosen. It wasn’t overly dramatic nor too loud or overbearing.

I will probably watch this again after it comes out, not right away, but I certainly will enjoy it again. I wouldn’t say no to more from this world, though I can’t really guess as to what that would be, but it would be fun I bet. I’m glad I saw this movie, and suggest it.

Mid-credit scene: Nope

End-credit scene: Nope. As this is a Netflix movie, I didn’t expect anything at the end, but stayed till it all the same.

Waller and Oliver shaking hands, interesting. I hope that Kara and Paige will finally bond permanently, haha. We got another What If Venom issue. We got a Giant-size issue for the FF. This is the Miles issue before issue 300, which is crazy that it’s already that far along! A new Jigsaw pops up in Punisher perhaps. this is the penultimate issue of Gang War. We got this year’s Women of Marvel issue. And a Kamala-centered Avengers Twilight issue!

Here’s another window-shades cover! And I love this rain of arrows cover. And a Taurin Clarke cover for this Thrawn issue is brilliant.

The main cover I got another issue for because Kamala is on the cover. And of course a variant with America on it is a must.

Here are all the gorgeous Kamala covers. Just look at them! And I actually didn’t expect to get that last cover since it’s a 1:25 incentive cover, but it was at the store, so, woot! And I mean, Alex Ross, Taurin Clarke, Daniel Acuña and Phil Noto! Love this costume too!

February 21, 2024

Same though.

So many of these arcs and events are not even started where I am currently reading, haha. So, I can’t actually comment much on them. Fall of X is still crashing through. These are some of the last issue of Gang War. So many Marvel 97 variants for a future collection post! Though I’m really excited to get to Blasfamous by DSTLRY!

These are two of the sweater weather themed covers. The first one will be in my book cover collection and then Titans one is just Dan Mora’s great art.

Rahzzah is coming in with some Green Lantern covers starting here. This is a connecting cover for Rise, but I just felt like including it here. And the last one is one of the new designs for the cosmic entities of the Marvel Universe.

Here are the Blasfamous covers! The first two are Andolfo covers. And the third one is an Artgerm cover.

I love that these all are wraparound covers. Love them!

February 14, 2024

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who partakes.

Goodbye there Bizarro! We got a miniseries for a couple of the villains son’s. I’m wondering what’s up with the big skull with Polaris. The Sabretooth War rages on. A hulk smashes by Gwen. Is Bucky a giant?! Night Thrasher has a new run. And Wanda and Pietro have a team-up miniseries. Gang War continues to almost end.

Avery being all over this cover hooked me to get this A cover. This is a great Sabretooth design. I liked it a lot when I first saw it decades ago. Like I said before, that skull. I love the art! Batwing looks great on this cover! And I mean, everyone looks amazing on this hot spring cover!

Posters! These are all fun covers to have as posters.

February 7, 2024

This new Batman arc seems intriguing. Space Dinosaurs in Shazam! We got a Valentine’s special with Guy Gardner as the main character, that should be fun, haha. The amazing Amy Jo Johnson co-wrote this MMPR miniseries “The Return”. Chris Claremont started writing a new miniseries set during one of his runs. I wonder why Stephen is on the Captain America cover. Venom is ramping up to something. Carol stops by for a visit with Jen. Gang War is soon to end. Ultimate Black Panther’s first issue dropped (the issue itself sold out everywhere really fast evidently). And Mace Windu also got a run!

There are many variants here, yes, but most of them are part of collections. The main one starting this week was the Marvel 97 or X-Men 97 variants. So, one day there will be a post in my Collections section. This issue is just here because Kamala is on it, haha.

January 2024 Late Issues 3

All but two are late issues I’d actually had on my list.

Another logo cover, nicely timed with this being this run’s final issue (which might also mean that these runs of SW comics are ending soon and we’ll start new runs post-ROTJ!).

I hadn’t added these to my list, but sometimes when you see variants in person, they just hit differently and I felt the need to get these from last month.

Madame Web (2024)

February 14, 2024

Well. It was better than Venom 2. It’s wasn’t an altogether bad movie, it wasn’t amazing, but I’ve seen worse movies.

There are numerous Marvel related problems (which I will vaguely mention later) all over the place, but honestly the most distracting thing was that characters just made decisions that didn’t make much sense some of the time. One that has nothing to do with plot is a camp fire was left as characters were leaving and they didn’t make sure it was out. I would think a director would think about something so simple. But again, they are small thing that just irked me.

The cast did a good job I thought. I would have enjoyed seeing them in a Marvel Studios produced version of this since it would have been more well put together. Though I can say that about all of Sony’s Marvel movies since Venom. They all kind of feel like they could all be movies on their own without any of the Marvel characters there.

Oh, and this movie was set in 2003, for no discernible, reason. And it also felt like a superhero movie that was made in 2003.

I don’t tend to notice a lot of cinematographic things while watching movies unless they really stand out, but there was some quite shaky camerawork in some scenes that I was surprised by. Like I could feel the camera moving as it rotated. Maybe that was just a quality problem with the film file or something, I’m not sure.

The plot was essentially what it was advertised as in the trailer. it just seemed like similar circumstances continue throughout the movie to put characters in danger and then it all eventually ends. Just a bit repetitive. The characterization of the girls was a bit weak, we got introduced to them and then had maybe one or two scenes learning a tiny bit about them and that’s all. And I know that this is Cassandra’s movie, but a little more character development for the girls would have been nice.

The villain. In the comics, he’s really not that important a character, and one could argue that he’s really not here. He doesn’t even have powers in the comics. But after the initial scenes with him, the movie doesn’t really give us character development of him either other than his mission throughout the movie. But we didn’t learn anything else about him at all. The actor did a good job, but the writing was just barely serviceable for his character.

I think they did an ok job with the time-powers ish, but I don’t know, something felt off about the editing. Also, I think the sound-design was a bit too loud in many scenes.

Now for the Marvel related issues. The fact that this takes place in 2003, is just odd. I don’t know why that choice was made, and all three girls being around before Spider-Man exists is just weird. Cassandra being around beforehand, sure, but the others being around is just messy. And just, wow, the origin of the powers is just totally made up. in the comics, Cassandra is a mutant. Of course they couldn’t do that origin here, but this seems to be Sony’s main problem, they keeps picking characters whose origins tie into heavy Marvel lore but Sony doesn’t have access to many of these things. For example, Venom without Spider-Man, one of the only Spidey villains whose origin directly is connected to Peter and Spidey in the comics, and Sony makes it without that aspect. I’m guessing that what they actually did was based in some actual mythology, but it just was a bit cheap. There were some other aspects that I won’t mention since they’d be more spoilery, but after watching the movie and then reading this or the other way around, you’ll probably get what I mean.

In general, it wasn’t horrible, it just was a bit chaotic. I still like this movie over Venom 2. Maybe it’s tied with Morbius. It was still fun at times, but things moved so fast that there wasn’t a lot of time to sit with characters. I would probably wait to watch this at home. But this technically should eventually connect to the other SSU movies and shows, so we’ll see what happens with these characters. Like I said, I liked the acting from everyone.

Mid-credit scene: No

End-credit scene: No
