Yup, you guessed it, still behind.

I’m intrigued by the current story in Scarlet Witch. We got another Halloween themed special from Marvel with another Crypt of Shadows one-shot. She-Hulk got a new run. I think this Catwoman issue is the final issue for the Gotham War event. This is Superman’s 850th issue, I actually forgot that, I may have to get another copy. I’m wondering how Swamp Thing and City Boy are going to interact. And I think this is the last Golden Age issue 1 we have with Jay Garrick. I think more than half of this pile were variants. I may need to watch out for that, haha.

Again, these Barends covers for this Ghost Rider run are just so good. And here’s the next New Champions variant. I really like the colors and contrast of both riders.

I just really like the cover for that Avengers Inc. The Hulk cover is just another fun out of the frame design. This CotV A cover is here just because it has Bishop and Cable on the cover. They were my favorite characters from the 90’s animated series.

So many fantastic covers for this new run!

I love that Jen Bartel is continuing to be the artist for the main covers, and I like that they are in a different format than the previous covers, though I would have bee happy if she continued with that design format. I almost missed that that next variant was an Andolfo cover, it’s just a fun cover. I think I have other covers by Rian Gonzales, so this hooked me. And of course another Leirix cover. There are 4 Leirix covers in these piles!

I love this Sirens’ cover, I wish it were a foil variant though! Another Andolfo cover for Gargoyles. And a Rahzzah cover!

It was a double Nakayama week with these two.

So many covers from artists I love. This was a pricey trip to the comic book store for me, haha. Taurin doing a great job with Cyborg. In-Hyuk Lee continuing with these City Boy covers. There’s the second Leirix cover with Hawkgirl. Look at that amazing JL vs Godzilla vs Kong cover by Mattina. Look at it. There were two amazing gatefold covers that were late for this issue, I can’t wait to get them! And of course there’s another legacy themed cover for Nightwing.

These were both variants I got just for the covers as I don’t subscribe to this title.

Of course another Barends cover. And I love when we get these type of foil emblem covers!

Speaking of foil, here’s the last foil cover of these Golden Age covers.

Even though I’m SO behind, it would be my luck that by the time I get to this pile, I won’t have Spider-Man India 4. We’ll see! ASM looks intriguing. Guardians also seems chaotic. This is the venom issue where Natasha gets a particular suit. I always love seeing Capt and Wolverine together. X-Men Red seems ominous. Captain Marvel gets a miniseries, which I don’t know when it takes place but eh. Superior Spider-Man is back! I’m excited for the Image and IDW issues of this week. And of course, the DC issues are going places. Oh and here is the first issue of the Batman: City of Madness Black Label miniseries.

I got this A Haunted Girl issue for the variant cover, but I also read it and I was hooked, so I’ll be getting the volume when it comes out next year. I really liked this Superman Lost cover. It’s just a nice duality.

These are the New Champions covers I liked. The Rian cover just for the colors and highlights. and the Betsy Cola cover for Magneto is just a great color scheme.

There were so many variants for this issue. Most of them are exclusives or incentives. I have some of them coming at some point after NYCC this weekend.

I love these variants! The Monica Rambeau cover is a legacy cover. And the other one is of course one based on The Marvels which I’m very excited for next month.

Here’s the next foil cover of the golden age issue one’s.

Yup, nothing has changed. Still Behind. Grumble.

I will be excited to continue the Dark Droids event. Intrigued by The Hood dropping by Ghost Rider. All the X-titles just seem to be spinning out of control and the Fall is coming soon! The High Republic started it’s third era in Phase I of it with Shadow of Starlight. This is the Strange Academy event finale (I hope there will be more from these characters). Marvel brought the G.O.D.S. special which is Marvel is reorganizing the cosmic entities and whatever else of the Marvel pantheon. Got another cover for a friend. This is the final issue of this Peacemaker miniseries. I”m excited to get to this Poison Ivy issue. Wondering what’s going on with Blue Beetle. Birds of Prey seems like a great team. Gotham war continues. And we got a DC Halloween special.

The Rex cover is for a friend. This is of course the next Andolfo variant for Darkwing Duck. And the next Ross Doctor Strange cover. And the last one is a fantastic cover that is themed for whoever the New Champions are. I won’t be getting all the covers, but certainly a few of them.

Just look at that Brooks Apocalypse main cover! I had to. And this is Dan Veesenmeyer’s X-Men 60th Anniversary cover. It’s just so perfect!

These are variants for X-Men 27. The first is another X-Men 60th cover, of course it’s paying homage to the classic Jim Lee cover. The next one is just a fantastic Momoko New Champions cover. And the last one is the next (and last, I think) Brooks corner box cover.

It’s funny that both these Momoko covers came out the same day, both characters look so similar. Both covers just work so well together.

Always love seeing multiple Nakayama covers in a week!

Normally I would have had these in a complete collection post, but since these came out as variants of the same issue, I just went with it. Plus, they did a great job at making this connecting cover set actually connect well.

Again, love these glow-in-the-dark covers!

September 27, 2023

Terry is dealing with the Court of Owls. Finally we have the next Static issue. This seems to be the penultimate issue of this Doom Patrol run. Parallax and Ollie have an agreement it seems. The Gotham War continues. Flash gets a new run! Also this is the penultimate Tales of the Titans run. Finally Power Girl’s title starts! Darkest Hour continues for the MMPR. The mutants are dealing with a lot in all their titles. And I have the last issue of the Death of the Venomverse but only in variant form. The second issue of the Tony and Emma wedding drops. And the second issue of Ms. Marvel arrived.

I just really liked this Spirit World cover. The details are wonderful. The Lord Zedd ranger design is pretty cool. This last one I think I thought it was by an artist I recognized, but apparently not, but eh, it’s a well-drawn cover.

I always enjoy a Leirix cover, this is just great. And of course another great Frison cover for Harley.

I think these are the last Corner Box cover and Ross Avengers 60th Anniversary covers.

Here’s another Clone Wars 15th Anniversary cover featuring season 7’s Ahsoka design.

I love these foil covers! The Flash one is so detailed!

And of course all the variants that my store could get for this issue. I’m going to do my best to get all the covers for this run.

September 20, 2023

I at least finished the pile I was reading, but still 6 piles behind. GAH! We’ll see what happens.

I’m intrigued by a Carnage What If story. The D-Squad looks fun. Hulk visits Logan(s). This is the penultimate issue of Death of the Venomverse. Issue two of the Strange Academy event involves Moon Knight. We have a new title with Uncanny Spider-Man and a new run of Captain America. The next issue of Stranger Things. Gotham War continued in Catwoman. Superman started a new arc. I’m excited for Cyborg since a character that I recognize from the animated show. The mystery continues in titans. Wonder Woman also started a new run. We’re halfway through Hawkgirl. And John Stewart started a new run.

This ASM cover is another JR Sr. and JR Jr. The X-Men cover is by Dan Veesenmeyer and is the cover of the art of the X-Men TAS book. And the Guardians cover is one I’ve been waiting for, I saw a video with the artist talking about how complicated it was to structure the drawing with the different designs of each character. I’m certainly going to get that slabbed. Oh, and speaking of slabbing, I got ones that I submitted at Baltimore Comic Con back recently, I’ll probably make a post about that soon.

These are the main cover and the Saturday morning variant for this issue. Both will be in the completed collection section eventually.

These three I just got for the covers. The first is I think designed like a VHS cover, the second will be a git for a friend, and the third is a Barrends cover that I got because the next couple issues have images that are sequential in narrative and I thought that was a nice touch. I don’t think I’ve seen that much or maybe ever?

This is just the next Nakayama cover for Catwoman. I can’t wait to arrange all the covers together!

I always enjoy acetate covers, had to get this.

Just, come on, Artgerm Wonder Woman cover. Just gorgeous.

Here’s another glow-in-the-dark cover of John’s dog-tags. So cool.

September 2023 Late Issues 2

Two doubles that were from last time. Blue Beetle was just since there weren’t any other copies last time. And the Gotham War Prelude I thought I had, but this edition is from Batman Day which I didn’t go to, so I thought I’d get it just in case, plus free stuff is always nice.

The B&R is just because I didn’t realize it was a wraparound cover.

This foil was just because they weren’t sure if they could get it last time.

The Creator (2023)

September 26, 2023 (advanced screening)

Well, that was a fantastic movie. I expected no less. The story was as the trailers suggested, so not a surprise there. But it was very well crafted. It went by faster than I thought it would. There were some twists and turns, which I enjoyed.

The cast was, of course, amazing. Whether they were the main cast of the side characters or the extras, everyone was brilliant. The emotions each character was feeling was accurately portrayed.

The visuals were stunning too. The scoop was cast and you really feel the world which is being shown to us. And the music was perfect, I hadn’t realized that it was Hans Zimmer. So, that makes sense.

It was certainly a powerful movie. I definitely suggest it.

Mid-credit scene: Nope

End-credit scene: Nope
