Ah. I guess I didn’t check the image. Whoops! Sorry for the blurriness. Also, this posts are way late too.

We got a Giant Little Marvels special by Scottie Young. Spider people were busy. Blood Hunt continued. Infinity Watch started. Darkest Hour continued for the Power Rangers. Zatanna got a new miniseries. And the Absolute Power event started.

The next Momoko variant for Blood Hunt. Stjepan Šejić gave us a great Superman cover.

Artgerm gave us an amazing Zatanna cover, plus a foil version.

Love these! I still need a better way to take photos of foil covers to show off the foil. If anyone knows what I could do, let me know!

June 2024 Late Issues 2

DWM from February and some variants.

This Edge of the Spider-Verse cover is one of the variants that each store gets one of. This Nightwing cover pays homage to one of the first covers of this run. That Star Wars cover is another one of the anniversary covers for Phantom Menace with R2’s first heroic moments.

I actually didn’t realize the second printings of these issues were connecting covers till I took this photo.

And I forgot I’d preordered this from the store haha. Apparently, the box it came in was huge and it was the only item in there. Also there was a crazy amount of bubble wrap.

Now having gotten to the current arc in Spider-Woman, I’m excited to get to this issue. That ASM cover was initially a hidden cover for that reveal. Evidently this Ultimate Spider-Man issue is really good. the Venomverse makes a come-back. I wonder what that Batman issue is about other than duality. I’m so excited to get to this Titans arc with Raven and Trigon. And I’m happy to get to these next DSTRLY titles.

Always happy to see America Chavez on a cover. R2 and 3PO meeting for the first time. Nathan Szerdy gave us a great Babs and Kara cover paying homage to Bruce Timm’s designs. This Titans’ cover is trippy! Raven looks great! And this Wonder Woman cover was one I wasn’t going to get, but it hooked me in-person. And that was weird because one of the covers for this issue was removed because the artist who made it evidently used AI. I didn’t know that till I picked up these and was told that.

The next Nakayama cover. The next Rachta Lin cover, so fun!

The main cover and one of the variants for issue 3.

Again, I love these wraparound covers.

The full designs. Some of the images are glossy (like the blood on the second cover’s back cover) and others are matte.

Since last time I have actually finished one pile! Progress!

Outsiders seems interesting with both Hex’s on the cover. This is the last Dream Team issue. We got an uncovered issue for DC Pride. Got a new title called Remote Space. It seemed cool. I’m intrigued by this Vader issue. Matt got a Giant-Size issue. Ultimate X-Men, G.O.D.S., and Blood Hunt all continue. We got an Apocalypse-related miniseries started. And Wanda got a new run.

Such a fun Dreamer cover by Fatima Wajid. For these 25th Anniversary covers for Phantom Menace I won’t get them all, just the ones that show big moments. For example, the first moment we meet Anakin on this cover. This Eternity cover is fantastic. Though I realize that I wouldn’t have included this till a collection covers post, but eh. This Momoko cover with Carol is great as usual. And of course the same for this Jubilee one. I’m not going to get all the Blood Hunt Momoko covers.

So many amazing covers for Wanda.

Dauterman’s main cover is just fantastic. I still hope we get an action figure of his design. I love this Frison cover. I wasn’t sure about getting the next one but I gave in, haha. Tran Nguyen did a great job. P. Craig Russell made such a painting of a foil cover.

Another time I have every cover for this title’s issue. I still have to get one more variant of issue 1, and hopefully I can keep getting all the covers for this whole run. It would be a first for me.

The Bikeriders (2023) (delayed release date: June 21, 2024) – via AMC ScreenUnseen

June 17, 2024 –

Well, that was a pretty good movie. It was based on a real biker club that one member decided to take photos and recordings of for eventual college.

The cast was mostly unknown to me other than a few of the main characters. But all of them did a fantastic job. Tom Hardy and Austin Butler we’re brilliant. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a movie based on real events that didn’t have a structured plot to it. It was essentially just telling a story of how things happened and how they ended. It took place during the late 60’s into the 70’s.

The music was well-picked and scored. The set and costume design were great. The emotional hits, hit. It went by faster than I thought would. Would I watch it again? Probably not, but it was a well made movie that I would suggest anyway.

Mid-credit scene: Nope

End-credit scene: Nope

Inside Out 2 (2024)

June 13, 2024

I saw articles loving this and others not being a fan. I enjoyed this movie a lot!

I still like the first one more, but this was more complex, giving the new emotions. The story wasn’t overly complicated in what was actually happening, but the emotions were all over the place since there were new ones.

The new emotions were very accurate to what we all feel like when they set in. Very well written. The visuals were amazing of course. And there was heart at the core of the movie just like the previous one.

I felt so many feelings, as expected and I’m happy for it. I’m so glad this sequel was made!

Mid-credit scene: No, but there are some quick scenes at the start of the credits.

End-credit scene: Yes. It’s nothing big, but it’s fun.

June 5, 2024

We got a Pride special in celebration of Rachel Pollack, a woman who was a pioneer in representation for trans characters in DC comics, like in Doom Patrol. This Poison Ivy issue is apparently big, as posted on social media by GWW. We got the first issue in the miniseries for My Adventures with Superman which takes place between seasons 1 and 2. We got a new title which caught my eye, scroll down to see what. The Ultimates got a new run. This Ms. Marvel issue is the last on of this run, and also the penultimate issue of the Krakoan age. And X-Men 35 (the 700th issue) dropped, ending our time with Krakoa.

The homage cover to that iconic Star Wars poster caught my eye for this comic, but the story also intrigued me. So, I decided to also subscribe to the title. Bravo Garry Brown on his art.

Once I saw this Vampirella cover by Jenny Frison, I had no choice but to get it. The colors and line-work, I mean I’m a fan of her art as y’all know, so this makes sense.

The negative space variant by JTC is so well done!

And the 3PO variant is a gift to be eventually signed and slabbed.

Now, I know what I said last time about the Disney what if covers. But I forgot that last year they were on the Disney side of anniversaries, but this year they’re on the marvel side of anniversaries. So it will be another collection photo-wise but all in the same collection after the fact.

This looked kind of different in the promo image. I thought the mask would be more shaded one way and outside the mask would be normal, and it’s kind of like that but not in the way that my eyes saw it. But still, it’s a fun cover.

Always so many amazing Ivy covers. That second one is a connecting cover for Pride.

I mean just look at this.

I absolutely love the animated series that is just starting its second season. And I hope to get someone to draw something great on here!

The end of this era. These are such amazing covers!! The top one is part of a teams collections by Dauterman. And the second is a connecting cover with the X-Men 1 of the next run.

I love that logo cover, I’m still glad for these recent logo variants. And that last one is the mirror of the first Dawn of X cover which was the first cover that we got from this Krakoan age. Brilliant.

A movie is next!

May 29, 2024

Still behind yes, but working on it more proactively! This date is around a year since I’ve started being behind on comics and I didn’t like that if read so little of the 12 months-worth in that time. So hopefully I’ll be able to push forward this week and continue that during this next month to maybe catch up. 🤞

Since I did get a bit of read done during the last few days, I have a speck more insight of some of the spider-related things that are out now or ending now. For example, with Spider-Boy, I know that he has a particular possible origin that could be interesting. Whereas before now I didn’t know anything beyond what had been vaguely hinted at. Though yes I know that that has bee over with for a few issues now. I read the beginnings of Jackpot and MJ’s choice spinning out of all the thing she went through in that last crazy Spidey arc. The Maul and Jango comics continue respectively. We got a wedding special for Destiny and Mystique (It takes place at some point during the Krakoan age, but not sure exactly when). We got the antepenultimate issue from the Krakoan age with Rise of the Powers of X 5. And we got this run’s final (50th) issue of Wolverine, which I think is before RotPoX 5. Avengers Twilight continued. We got the final issue of the Power Rangers: The Return miniseries. And DC is ramping up to its Absolute Power summer event. DC also gave us another Pride special with some great variants!

I didn’t actually realize that this Spider-Boy variant was one of the Black Suit covers, I just liked the black and white cover as a whole. But for the Wanda and Pietro variant, I knew it was what it was so I got it for them in those costumes.

These are the DC Pride main cover and two of the variants I liked.

Dauterman did a great job with this first cover. As usual, of course. And this next one is an homage cover paying such to The Amazing Spider-Man Annual 21, the newsstand variant (1987), which was Peter and MJ’s wedding issue.

These are just fun variants for this 50th issue and final issue of the run. Though I did enjoy the Snikt cover a lot. And I always love a Sabretooth cover.

As mentioned before, SNIKT! And I like this other cover because it reminded me of the Cold Vengeance VHS cover in tone and character of course.

These were solely purchased because (can you guess?) of Kamala being there. Though, I do really like the colors on that second one and the way the figures are like statues.

Three awesome ladies. Nakayama doing a great job with Amy Jo Johnson’s likeness. The next two happen to be AAPI Heritage Month variants, but I got them because I enjoy Red Canary (drawn by Annie Wu) and Avery (drawn by Jessica Fong).

I always love seeing what Pride covers we get each year. These were all great! Though I was disappointed that there were only these three designs. Usually there are many other variants. I’m so glad that Dreamer is making a huge resurgence.

The main cover is so colorful and brilliantly done by Kevin Wada. Babs Tarr did an amazing job with this HarlIvy foil cover. And I think it’s been a while since I’ve had a David Talaski cover, and this is such a fun beach wraparound cover.

May 2024 Late Issues 2

January’s DWM and one of the Hercules variants.

The issue itself from inside the sleeve. A reprint of the actual Star Beast story that inspired one of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials.

Double sided poster. Though I don’t really understand why they divided it up like this. That’s one poster with 4 images instead of two sheets of paper with two images on each side. I get that it’s saving paper, but eh, I’m not a fan of doing posters like this. But they’re great choices for posters ^__^
